Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1, is the final opportunity for manufacturers to lock in a spot at the 2026 MPMC Media Trade Conference, the automotive aftermarket's premier conference for establishing connections between motorsports parts manufacturers and media professionals.

Taking place January 27–29, 2026, in Anaheim, California, the Media Trade Conference gives motorsports parts manufacturers the opportunity to host private meetings with the industry's top journalists, editors, podcasters and content creators who can expose their brand to mass audiences.

Registration is only $950--an investment that pays for itself with just one media placement or feature article. Register now before it's too late.

Reasons the Media Trade Conference is a can't-miss event:

  • Unmatched media access: Exhibiting companies sit down with vetted journalists and content creators who are eager to feature their products and stories.
  • Guaranteed exposure: Brands are guaranteed 40-plus half-hour meetings that are curated to their goals.
  • Networking that matters: From daily lunches to a high-energy reception, this event connects with industry leaders and peers in powerful ways.

The Media Trade Conference is open to MPMC, Truck & Off-Road Alliance (TORA) and Performance Racing Industry (PRI) business members.

Spy photographers have once again caught several upcoming vehicles undergoing testing, giving an early glimpse at what's to come before they officially debut.

First-Ever Skoda Fabia RS Spotted on the Nürburgring
Skoda Fabia RS

Two different prototypes of a Skoda Fabia-based car were spotted testing on the German Nürburgring, both equipped with features not yet available on the model.

New images from SEMA News sources show an aggressive roof spoiler and an additional lip on the front bumper, plus red brake calipers, hinting at the first-ever Skoda Fabia RS.

The model has long been rumored, according to insiders, and appears to be coming as a '26 or '27 model. If so, it would follow in the footsteps of the Fabia RS Rally 2 purpose-built rally car. Like the RS Rally 2, the customer version could be offered with a 1.6L four-cylinder engine under the hood.

Audi Caught Testing RS6 e-tron

Newly captured spy shots show what is thought to be another electric RS model from Audi--the RS6 e-tron based on the all-electric A6--as it prepares to transition its lineup to electric power.

The prototype may look like some of the testers for the regular A6, but a closer inspection reveals details like flared wheel arches and an uprated brake package with drilled brake discs.

A concept of the A6 shown in '21 packed a 100-kwh battery and dual-motor powertrain good for 469 hp. Output in the RS6 is expected to match the maximum 621 hp available in the current gas-powered RS6 Avant.

The A6, and thus any RS version, has been designed around Volkswagen Group's new PPE modular EV platform for high-volume luxury models. The platform debuts later this year in the Audi Q6 (e-tron) crossover, which is also expected to spawn an RS variant. The A6 is also due out later this year.

TechForce SEMA Show

With a nationwide technician shortage threatening key sectors from transportation to energy, one nonprofit is turning the spotlight toward the young men and women stepping up to keep America running.

TechForce Foundation and the SEMA Show announce the 2025 Techs Rock Awards public vote, inviting Americans to help crown the top student and working technicians in the country. Voting is open now through October 15 at TechForce.org/Vote.

"This vote is about more than prizes," said Jennifer Maher, CEO of TechForce Foundation. "It's about showing the next generation of techs that the country is behind them. We talk a lot about the technician shortage, and this is a chance to support the solution."

Two Grand Prize Winners--one aspiring student technician and one working professional technician--will be chosen by public vote and honored live at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on November 5, the largest automotive event in the United States.

"Part of the future of the automotive aftermarket depends on the dedication and passion of today's technical students," said SEMA Vice President of Marketing RJ de Vera. "It's an honor to celebrate these emerging technicians through our collaboration with the Techs Rock Awards and inspire them to continue moving the industry forward."

A national panel of judges--including ChrisFix, YouTube's most-followed automotive DIY expert; Melissa Scoles, president and CEO, QA1 Precision Products, Inc.; Emily Reeves, YouTube personality; Charles "Humble Mechanic" SanvilleRick Love, president of Vintage Air; Myles Kovacs, co-founder and CEO of TIS and Dropstars Wheels; and Mary Culler, president of Ford Philanthropy--selected 12 category winners from hundreds of nominations submitted. Each finalist has already earned more than $3,000 in prizes and now competes for a $15,000-plus grand prize package that includes Carlyle tools, travel, and national recognition.

SEMA Show attendee conducting a product demo at the SEMA Show

The 2025 SEMA Show, November 4–7 in Las Vegas, is the world's largest automotive aftermarket trade event where innovation, education and opportunity converge across the Las Vegas Convention Center and outdoor exhibits. With more than 2,000 exhibitors and countless events packed into four days, the 2025 SEMA Show is too big for any one person to cover alone. That's why bringing more of your employees and colleagues is one of the smartest ways to maximize your four days at SEMA. A well-prepared team can cover more ground, discover more products and turn every conversation into a potential advantage for your business.

1. Define Your Team's "Why"

Every business attends the SEMA Show with specific goals. Are you looking to expand product offerings? Strengthen supplier relationships? Find new tools for your shop? By defining your "why" and aligning your team with those objectives, you'll make each person's time on the Show floor more impactful.

2. Conversations That Count

On average, one person can realistically have about 200 quality conversations during Show week. That means every interaction matters. Think of it as a "connection chain":

  • 10-second glance → Spot something new that catches your eye.
  • 1-minute pause → Ask a quick question and get a fast insight.
  • 5-minute chat → Dive deeper into a product or solution that could fit your business.
  • 30-minute sit-down → Reserve time for meaningful discussions that can shape partnerships or purchasing decisions.
3. Put People in the Right Places

Just as you'd assign roles in your shop or office, assigning roles at the SEMA Show ensures nothing gets missed. Quick communicators are ideal for scanning new products and handling fast interactions, or the 10-second glances and one- to five-minute chats. Managers or decision-makers can oversee 30-minute sit-down meetings with suppliers and partners. Matching skills to responsibilities allows your team to move faster and engage more effectively.

4. Avoid Missed Opportunities

The size of the SEMA Show can be overwhelming, but a well-staffed team ensures you won't miss critical products, new contacts or industry insights. Divide and conquer: assign sections of the Show floor, educational sessions and networking events so your business comes away with a comprehensive picture.

5. Measure What Matters

Success at the SEMA Show isn't about how many booths you pass--it's about the meaningful connections and insights you bring home to your business. Encourage your team to track leads, conversations and product finds, then prioritize follow-up after returning from Las Vegas. High-value opportunities should be acted on immediately, while other discoveries may develop over weeks or months.

6. An Investment in Growth

Bringing your employees to the 2025 SEMA Show isn't just about seeing more products--it's about giving your business a competitive edge. When your team is on the ground in Las Vegas, they gain firsthand product knowledge, connect with suppliers face-to-face, and return home with insights that can immediately impact your bottom line.

With so much happening across the Show floor, education sessions and networking events, no single person can experience it all. That's why registering more of your team members ensures you maximize your four days at the SEMA Show and bring back the kind of knowledge, relationships and opportunities that fuel long-term success.

Focus: Learning to wrench, her '69 Camaro and personal development

SEMA News: How did you get into the automotive industry?

Christina Lardie: My dad was a gearhead and loved classic muscle cars. He had purchased a drivable '69 Camaro, stripped it down to the unibody on jack stands and surprised me on my 30th birthday. It was supposed to be the car that he and I built together. About a year later, he died unexpectedly, and we never got the chance. At that point, I told myself that I would find a way to complete the car, even without experience. I did not even know how to jump a battery or change a tire.

Christina Lardie

SN: What's been your biggest motivator?

CL: Grief and love. Grief of losing my dad. Grief of being medically retired due to a low back injury from the job that I felt defined my value as a human being. My dad and I worked for the same fire department. He was a lieutenant, and I was an EMT on the ambulance. I was injured in 2016, my dad died in 2020, and my medical retirement was approved only a few months after his passing. I'm learning how to love myself down to my core. I'm learning how to be authentically myself. I'm learning how much value I bring to the table just as I am. I'm using all the pain as fire under me to give it all a reason. I want to help kids like my dad had planned to after he retired. He wanted to open a local shop for neighborhood kids to hang out, stay out of trouble and learn how to wrench. Although I don't have an interest in opening a shop, I do want to find ways that I can still make a bigger impact. I want to keep my father's legacy alive while also creating my own in the process.

SN: What's been your favorite part of being a part of the automotive community?

CL: The majority of people have been so welcoming, helpful and encouraging me to continue my pursuit.

SN: As a content creator in the industry, how do you hope to make an impact on your audience?

CL: Vulnerability and authenticity are two of my core values. I want to show people the reality of starting something new. I'm scared, don't know anyone or anything, I'm working my tail off and yet I still push forward. I'm leading by example to show my audience that each of them has the power to pursue what lights their hearts on fire, too. I don't see enough people admit they don't know or encourage taking risks and making mistakes in the process of learning, so why can't I be that person?

Christina Lardie

SN: Why is advocacy important to you?

CL: Even as I'm writing out my answers to all of these questions, I'm in tears. I don't know how to express in words the true importance of keeping this culture alive. I don't have the knowledge of policy or the ability to debate with professionals about how things should or shouldn't be done. All I know is my story. I also know that I'm not the only one whose heart is in this as much as mine. I want to share that. I want to remind people that our stories carry importance and encourage individuals that they do have the power to make a difference. Their story and passion is enough, and the only way for anyone to resonate with that is to stand up and share. It's not just a car.

SN: What's been the biggest moment of your career thus far?

CL: I experience imposter syndrome quite often, and throughout the last two years since starting my YouTube channel, there has been a whirlwind of things I'm in awe of and grateful for.

Most recently, being included in The Great Race with Riley's Rebuilds and all of the other amazing female content creators was a huge opportunity for me. Not only were my travel expenses covered by sponsors, but the gift of a once-in-a-lifetime experience was truly priceless.

I believe that it's important to provide value first, then negotiate later. I have been paying out of pocket to show up to as many events as I can, build relationships and bring value to the table. To say it's been a struggle is putting it lightly. I second-guess myself constantly and stress over my value not translating into actual sustainable income. So, when Riley invited me and I found out the sponsors were taking such good care of us, I was blown away. To show my gratitude, I showed up to the best of my ability. I stayed up until 3 a.m. every night of the nine-day race, editing and posting daily race updates on YouTube. I believe the best way to express appreciation and gratitude to someone who has given you an opportunity is to pour all you have into doing something with it and becoming successful. I refuse to let any of those who have taken that chance and invested in my future see me give up. This includes my dad. In my mind, there is no alternative. I will make it happen.

Christina Lardie

SN: What is on the horizon for you in 2025? Anything you're looking forward to?

CL: I just returned from Florida, wrenching with Riley's Rebuilds, preparing the same '66 Ford Fairlane from The Great Race for the 2025 SEMA Show. If things work out as planned, I will be flying to meet the group a few days before SEMA and drive the last leg in the Fairlane to Las Vegas.

I have been so inspired by the experience that I pitched an idea to the San Francisco Firefighters' Toy Program, a nonprofit run by the SFFD Union. I want to spend this next year building my Camaro and have it completed in time to attend a Toy Program fundraiser in Fall 2026 in my dad's memory.

My dad was involved with the Toy Program and loved giving back to the kids. I have memories as a child in the firehouse during Toy Program events. They already restored a '54 Chevy Truck as a restomod and dedicated it to my dad. They call it The Altenberg. I would love to collaborate with sponsors to help me with my build, bring other gearhead content creators out to help me wrench on my car and get the word out about the Toy Program. How cool would it be to drive from Sacramento to San Francisco in my Camaro with a truckload of toys in tow, donated by my followers, and park it next to The Altenberg? I'm tearing up again just thinking about it.

SN: What are you hoping to see from the industry in the next few years?

CL: The people make the party. I'm new to the industry, so I don't have the experience to know how it has been or how it should be. From my personal lifetime experience, I find the importance of humanization getting a little lost. People in general don't realize how much power they have as individuals, and I think it's crucial that we lead in a way that inspires and reminds those people that they matter. Sharing real stories, including the good, bad and ugly, is real and relatable. There are so many people who don't believe they can have their dream cars, be involved in any way that protects our rights as automotive enthusiasts or know that there are endless opportunities within the automotive industry available to them. I don't believe accessibility should just be given to anyone. I'm a firm believer that we need to work for what we have, helping us gain true appreciation for how special it is. That is why leading by example is so important. We show people through our own actions what is possible.

SEMA Data Excellence Awards

SEMA Data has honored 72 automotive aftermarket manufacturers with a 2025 SEMA Data Excellence Award, recognizing their commitment to superior data quality. These manufacturers have provided resellers in the SEMA Data network with complete, accurate and reliable product information that powers their systems and point of sale, both in-store and online.

"High-quality, validated product data is essential for providing customers with a seamless shopping experience," said Gigi Ho, SEMA vice president of technology, data and strategic initiatives. "When manufacturers deliver complete and accurate information, it minimizes errors, streamlines operations and helps resellers serve customers faster and more effectively. This not only drives sales but also builds trust across the entire industry."

Raising the Bar

The SEMA Data Scorecard recently introduced more stringent requirements for attaining Data Excellence. The scorecard is a tool designed to guide manufacturers in improving the quality of their product data, ensuring that manufacturers at every level are supporting the needs of resellers and the broader aftermarket community.

Each tier of the Scorecard--Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum--presents a more rigorous challenge to create and catalog additional fields of product information. Those with Gold and Platinum scores are distinguished as having achieved "Data Excellence."

Qualitative requirements recently added for Platinum include strict adherence to fitments without part conflicts and a rich array of product attributes and digital assets.

Hard Work Pays Off

HushMat achieved Data Excellence for the 10th consecutive year in 2025, a milestone that underscores its long-term commitment to quality. By prioritizing digital content, the company ensures that every part number in its database is supported with multiple images, videos and other rich assets, an effort Tim McCarthy, founder and CEO of HushMat and ZyCoat, says is necessary for upholding a competitive advantage.

"HushMat began developing its PIES and ACES database [more than] 20 years ago on paper and numerous spreadsheets," said McCarthy. "SEMA Data now provides a single repository of our hundreds of thousands of data records for our customers. Maintaining, growing and expanding this database to include all volume platforms in the USA, foreign makes and heavy trucks has required constant effort and investment."

In today's e-commerce world, credible data is key. McCarthy encourages other manufacturers to invest in data and identify resources in their business to drive data generation.

"Our wholesale distributor, dealer and retail customers appreciate our constant efforts to improve data quality," said McCarthy. "The quality of our data is consistent with the industry-leading quality of our brands. It makes a difference and helps sell our brand over others."

Powering the Industry

SEMA Data is the leading provider of standardized product data with more than 650 brands, a collective inventory of more than 4.5 million parts and an active network for more than 4,750 resellers. It serves as the central hub for product information in the specialty-equipment industry, supplying manufacturers and resellers with continuing education regarding evolving product data standards, a comprehensive set of online data management tools and a full team of product data experts to support them through the data management process.

"The data expertise that resides within SEMA Data and the multi-customer expertise and ongoing support helps us immensely. There has always been a resource willing to assist," said McCarthy. "As small entrepreneurial businesses, we appreciate the single point of contact for our customers for both our brands."

Award winners will be celebrated during the SEMA Data Users Meetup on Monday, November 3, before the official start of the 2025 SEMA Show. To learn more about SEMA Data, visit www.semadata.org.

Qualified SEMA Show attendees are encouraged to register now to secure discounted rates. Registration is $75 through Sept. 26. Hotel reservations at guaranteed low rates are available exclusively through SEMA's official hotel provider, onPeak.

From the SEMA Washington, D.C., office

Moab Trail

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is reconsidering a 2023 Travel Management Plan (TMP) that closed more than 300 miles of trails near Moab, Utah, a welcome development for the off-road community.

On September 24, BLM announced it will reassess motorized vehicle route designations within the Labyrinth/Gemini Bridges Travel Management Area, near Moab, including whether certain routes currently designated as closed or limited to off-highway vehicles should be redesignated as open to OHV use. BLM proposes reopening more than 145 miles of trails for OHV access.

  • Click here to view an interactive map of the area that includes the routes that BLM has preliminarily identified to reopen.

SEMA will formally weigh in to support the BLM's proposal as part of a public comment period that ends October 24.

Background

SEMA has a long history of working to protect motorized access to the Labyrinth/Gemini Bridges Travel Management Area. After the Biden administration finalized the 2023 Labyrinth/Gemini Bridges TMP, SEMA supported the Off-Road Business Association's (ORBA) administrative appeal challenging the BLM's proposed closures along with the agency's process surrounding the decision. The challenge highlighted problems with the decision, including inadequate review, incomplete and defective factual data, mapping errors, decisions made from unsupported data and violations of settlement agreements.
