"Top Gear" Hits the History Channel
The U.S. version of "TOP GEAR" is headed for the History Channel. The series is set to premiere this Sunday, November 21, 10:00 p.m. (EST)/9:00 p.m. (CST) and will be hosted by comedian and car buff Adam Ferrara, champion rally and drift racer Tanner Foust and racing analyst Rutledge Wood.

Ken Grammer Returns to Synergy Racing
Synergy Racing announced that Ken Grammer returned to the team to assume daily operations. Grammer was originally a member of the management staff during the 2004–2005 season which culminated in the team winning the 2005 Grand-Am Rolex GT Driver’s Championship. Grammer takes over for Kerrigan Smith, Synergy Racing acting general manager, who accepted the position of director of track operations with Virginia International Raceway.

Ruth Ehlinger was elected the president of the Car Care Council Women's Board.

Ehlinger Named President of Car Care Council Women's Board
Ruth Ehlinger was elected the president of the Car Care Council Women's Board. In this position, Ehlinger will preside over all meetings and help supervise the affairs of the board for a three-year term. Ehlinger has been a member of the Women’s Board since 2001. In addition to the presidency, Ehlinger will continue to serve as the chair of the Consumer Education Committee until a new chairperson is chosen.

BMF Salutes Veterans With Wheel Giveaway
Starting November 2010, BMF Wheels will give away one set of wheels each month for one year to selected veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. The first set of wheels was given away during the 2010 SEMA Show to Jeff Polich, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan and a Bronze Star with Valor recipient. Stronghold Motorsports Hosts Off Road Night
Stronghold Motorsports will host Off Road Night with the Ontario Reign hockey team at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California, on December 1. The event will feature a number of off-road vehicles and appearances by members of the Stronghold Motorsports Team, including the most recent addition, seven-time Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath. The event is part of Stronghold's efforts in support of Racing for a Cause to benefit Loma Linda Children's Hospital.

Classic Collision Opens New Facility in Georgia
Classic Collision opened a new collision-repair center in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The 70,000-sq.-ft. facility occupies the former Tom Jumper parts and service buildings, and the company expects the facility to handle as many as 8,000 vehicles annually. The company also reported the facility will employ 40 to 50 people in the coming year.

Pirelli Opens Its First Plant in Mexico
Pirelli recently announced plans to construct its first tire-production plant in Mexico. The new factory, to be located in the city of Silao (about 400 kilometers from Mexico City), will produce high-performance and ultra high-performance tires for cars and light trucks. Pirelli reported that it will initially invest approximately $210 million in the plant, which Pirelli says will generate 700 direct and 300 indirect jobs in the local Silao area. The facility will cover an area of 120,000 square meters and will be operational in 2012.

SCCA RallyCross National Championship Relocates
The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) RallyCross National Championship has been relocated to the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska, for the event set for October 7–9, 2011. The RallyCross National Championship will be hosted by the Nebraska Region and joins the SCCA Tire Rack Solo National Championship in Lincoln, Nebraska, as SCCA National Championship events in the Cornhusker State. Once in the Countdown, he showed his dominance yet again, picking up three wins and three No. 1 qualifiers. His first-round win against Mike Strasburg at the final race of the season, the Auto Club NHRA Finals, was just enough to clinch his third career Full Throttle world championship in Top Fuel.

Force entered the Countdown to the Championship with four wins, three No. 1 qualifiers, and the points lead under his belt, but a first-round loss in Reading, Pennsylvania, along with Funny Car driver Matt Hagan setting a national record for time (which gives a driver 20 bonus points), Force was bumped back down to second place, 64 points behind Hagan. He came back strong in Las Vegas and beat Hagan in the final round to narrow the points deficit to just 37 heading into the final race of the season, the Auto Club NHRA Finals. After fellow Ford driver Bob Tasca was able to beat Hagan in the first round of eliminations, Force needed to merely make a semifinal-round appearance to clinch the title. He not only made that appearance, but also won the race, his sixth for the season, and clinched his 15th Full Throttle world championship in Funny Car. At 61 years old, Force became the oldest NHRA Full Throttle Series world champion in NHRA history.

Tonglet finished the regular season in the seventh spot in the points standings, but with sponsorship woes, was unsure if he’d even be able to finish the season. After gaining the support of NitroFish Gear owner Kenny Koretsky, Tonglet began his march towards the championship at the first race of the Countdown to the Championship, the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. Tonglet went on to pick up four wins in five final-round appearances in the Countdown and, after points leader Andrew Hines fouled out in the first round of eliminations at the season-ending Auto Club NHRA Finals, Tonglet clinched his first Full Throttle world championship after beating Steve Johnson in the second round. At the age of 20, Tonglet became the youngest NHRA Full Throttle Series world champion in NHRA history.

Season Summary: Dixon had one of the most impressive seasons in NHRA Top Fuel history, posting 12 wins in 12 final-round appearances and holding the points lead for seven months. He started the season off right, winning the 50th annual Kragen O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals, the opening race of the 2010 season, then following it up quickly with back-to-back wins in Houston and Las Vegas. He finished the regular season with nine wins, five No. 1 qualifiers and the points lead heading into the Countdown to the Championship. Once in the Countdown, he showed his dominance yet again, picking up three wins and three No. 1 qualifiers. His first-round win against Mike Strasburg at the final race of the season, the Auto Club NHRA Finals, was just enough to clinch his third career Full Throttle world championship in Top Fuel.

Championship Quote: “I’ve never had so much excitement for a first-round win in my life. It was just a great job by the team this year. It’s a credit to the whole Al-Anabi crew and everybody pitched in to make it happen. This is what we work so hard for.”

Season Summary: After finishing the 2009 season winless, the first time he had done so since 1986, Force started things out right by winning the season opener, the Kragen O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, then followed it with a win at the inaugural NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte and another win at Las Vegas. Force entered the Countdown to the Championship with four wins, three No. 1 qualifiers, and the points lead under his belt, but a first-round loss in Reading, Pennsylvania, along with Funny Car driver Matt Hagan setting a national record for time (which gives a driver 20 bonus points), Force was bumped back down to second place, 64 points behind Hagan. He came back strong in Las Vegas and beat Hagan in the final round to narrow the points deficit to just 37 heading into the final race of the season, the Auto Club NHRA Finals. After fellow Ford driver Bob Tasca was able to beat Hagan in the first round of eliminations, Force needed to merely make a semifinal-round appearance to clinch the title. He not only made that appearance, but also won the race, his sixth for the season, and clinched his 15th Full Throttle world championship in Funny Car. At 61 years old, Force became the oldest NHRA Full Throttle Series world champion in NHRA history.

Championship Quote: “I want to thank my doctors and trainers that got my arms and legs back (after the 2007 crash). I am 40 again! I am still ugly, but I am 40. The chemical is intended to replace R-134a since it is believed to have far less global-warming potential.  However, “1234yf” may only be used in new motor vehicles. The EPA did not approve use by “do-it-yourselfers” to recharge vehicle air conditioners pending further review on whether there is a toxic chemical exposure risk via inhalation. The agency is also considering a proposal to allow 1234yf to be used as a substitute for R-12 in new motor vehicles.
