The shooters at KGP Photography have caught their first looks at the ’14 Camaro convertible in both ZL1 and SS trims. While the revamped Camaro has been a known quantity for a while now, the soft tops have not been seen in these trim combinations before.

On the ZL1, there's a combination of the old-style ZL1 nose mated with the Camaro's redesigned rear.

Running the streets of Milford, the soft-top SS was kitted out with quad exhaust and 20-in. five-spoke wheels. The revamped Camaro is expected to hit showrooms early this fall.

Clayton Drescher is the latest addition to SEMA’s council staff. As senior manager of councils, he works closely with the volunteer council leadership on a variety of projects and initiatives—all designed to help members learn and network while promoting their market segment.

Drescher spent the last seven years at the Petersen Automotive Museum—a SEMA-member organization in Los Angeles. After earning a graduate degree, Drescher was excited to combine his passions for public education and the automotive industry in his work at the museum. Though he has been a long-time racing fan, his time at the museum increased his familiarity with automotive history and gave him a broad appreciation for the industry.

In his most recent position as education manager, Drescher developed educational programs for all ages and managed volunteer efforts. He feels these experiences prepared him well for his new position at SEMA. “There is a lot of crossover in the topics and audience of SEMA and the Petersen. Hot rods and customizing vehicles are a big part of the enthusiasm that the museum celebrates,” he says.

Now, as a part of the SEMA team, Drescher will experience another side of the automotive industry. “At the Petersen, I learned a lot about the consumer level of the industry. Now that I’m here at SEMA, I am looking forward to seeing everything from a different perspective. I see myself as a resource—to help council members access the benefits available to them, and to help the association engage our members. I want to help everyone move toward the same goal,” he says.

When he’s not at work, Drescher enjoys spending time with his wife and one-year-old son at their home in Long Beach.

Drescher is the SEMA liaison for the Truck and Off-Road Alliance (TORA), the Professional Restylers Organization (PRO) and the Wheel & Tire Council (WTC). To learn more about any of these councils, contact him at ClaytonD@sema.org or 909-978-6696.

Kelly Davis of Clifton Larson Allen will provide an overview of the Affordable Care Act and focus on key issues company executives should consider for their businesses and workers.

The “Affordable Care Act” continues to sow confusion for many SEMA members. You may have read recently that the Obama Administration has delayed implementation of the employer mandate portion of the healthcare law. So what does this development mean for you? While larger SEMA companies will still be required to offer healthcare coverage in 2014, penalties for non-compliance won’t be enforced until 2015.

However, when enforced, these penalties will be severe. It is critical that all SEMA-member companies understand the law and plan accordingly.

"Providing guidance on how the new healthcare law impacts our members is a SEMA priority,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. "While the employer mandate penalties have been delayed for one year, now is the time to become familiar with the law and confirm that your company is already in compliance."

In this user-friendly webinar, healthcare reform expert Kelly Davis of Clifton Larson Allen will provide an overview of the law and focus on key issues company executives should consider for their businesses and workers. Davis' presentation will include details on the employer and individual mandates, tax credits available to small businesses and the insurance exchanges being created to assist smaller companies and individuals in shopping for affordable coverage. She will also be prepared to answer your specific questions.

Join us Thursday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m. (PDT) for a webinar packed full of important information. Register now for this timely educational opportunity!

This SEMA Education Institute (SEI) webinar will provide member companies with the information they need, and you don’t even have to leave your desk or office to participate! Participate live or download the webinar when it’s convenient. And remember: SEI webinars are free to SEMA members and only $29 for non-members.
