Thirty-two teams have qualified for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge Dual Championship Finals, completing a crate-engine rebuild in less than 35 minutes.

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), whose professional drag-racing teams employ some of the nation’s top auto technicians, is supporting the next generation of auto experts through the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge. The NHRA has donated its table at the 2014 SEMA Show Banquet to the top two teams competing in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge (Racing & Performance, booth #61099) at the Show.

“So many of the participants in our Engine Challenges hope to one day be employed by teams competing in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, so this is a big deal to these kids,” said Rodney Bingham, president of Hot Rodders of Tomorrow. “It makes the whole experience of coming to Las Vegas even more fun.”

Along with seats at the SEMA Show Banquet, the NHRA is awarding the top two teams tickets to an NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event that’s closest to their school.

High-school teams compete throughout the year in hopes of qualifying for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge Dual Championship Finals. Thirty-two teams have qualified for the event, completing a crate-engine rebuild in less than 35 minutes. The top two teams going into the SEMA Show’s Championship competition are East Ridge High School from East Ridge, Tennessee, and Thomas County Central High School from Thomasville, Georgia. Both of these teams completed engine rebuilds in 20 minutes or less.

2014 SEMA Show attendees will have a chance to win a brand-new, fully equipped Anvil Blue ’14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited when they visit Omix-ADA’s Off-Road Success Center.

As part of the SEMA Cares build, a team of students from the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts modified a standard four-door Jeep Wrangler JK Sport at the new SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar, California.

Omix-ADA’s Off-Road Success Center (Booth #34000) at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, November 4–7, will showcase two unique Jeeps: one built in support of SEMA Cares that will later be auctioned for charity, and the other to be used for a special giveaway promotion during the SEMA Show.

The SEMA Cares Jeep is designed to raise awareness for SEMA Cares’ charitable efforts within the automotive aftermarket. The SEMA Cares Jeep was bought using funds from Omix-ADA’s 2013 SEMA Cares donation and was customized through a collaboration between Omix-ADA and the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts.

As part of the build, a team of students from the school modified a standard four-door Jeep Wrangler JK Sport at the new SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar, California, using parts from a number of donor companies—including Rugged Ridge’s Exploration Package—to make a one-of-a-kind 4x4.

The Exploration restyling package—one of Omix-ADA’s 10 pre-loaded kits—features appearance products ranging from floor and cargo liners, grab handles and hood catches to more hardcore parts, including uprated tire carriers, bumper accessories, even recovery winch gear, suspension and tires.

“It’s great that we can bring more awareness to SEMA Cares because they play an instrumental role in actively involving and engaging future generations in our industry, which is one of the things we teach at Off-Road Success Center,” said Henk Van Dongen, marketing director at Omix-ADA. “The Jeep we designed was a perfect way to get people excited about SEMA Cares and the off-road hobby.

While on display throughout the four-day show, the Jeep will be signed by automotive personalities, VIPs and celebrities in attendance. In early 2015, the Jeep will then make its way to auction where all proceeds from its sale will be split between three charities: The Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts, Childhelp and Victory Junction.

The SEMA Cares Committee was established by SEMA’s Board of Directors in 2007 and strives to make a positive difference through outreach programs and various fundraising efforts. SEMA Cares makes its mission to foster industry leadership by supporting the education of students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket.

Giveaway Promotional Jeep Contest

Over the course of three days (November 4–6), 2014 SEMA Show attendees will also have a chance to win a brand-new, fully-equipped Anvil Blue ’14 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited when they visit Omix-ADA’s Off-Road Success Center.

The winning Jeep will be outfitted with Rugged Ridge’s new Summit restyling package, which includes the company’s XHD Modular Bumper, grille inserts and an upgraded rear tire carrier.

Forty semi-finalists will be selected over three days and given a key for a chance at starting and driving away with the one-of-a-kind Jeep, Thursday, November 6, at the Off-Road Success Center.

Returning for its third year at the SEMA Show, the Off-Road Success Center provides a forum for business owners and decision makers within the Jeep and off-road market to freely exchange ideas, learn new concepts for success and network with other industry professionals.

Six customized all-new ’15 Honda Fits will be on display in the Honda booth at the 2014 SEMA Show, where the fan favorite will be announced, November 4.

Over the last five weeks, Honda has followed the progress of six build teams as they each customize the all-new ’15 Fit through a project vehicle program and interactive Tumblr experience (#ProjectFit). A little more than one week remains for fans to vote for the winner of the project (through October 22), with the favorite vehicle to be announced November 4 at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, where all six vehicles will be on display in the Honda booth.

The six build teams, Bisimoto Engineering, Kontrabrands, MAD Industries, Spoon Sports USA, Tjin Edition and the award-winning Kenny Vinces, have each personalized their Fits with such modifications as aerodynamic body kits, wheels, suspension and audio-system upgrades, custom paint jobs and more. Photos, video and animated GIFs of the transformations in progress have been posted throughout the campaign at hondaloves.tumblr.com, where fans can like or reblog posts to cast their votes. This effort continues to be promoted on automobiles.honda.com, in Honda newsletters and on social media.

After viewing all of the vehicle displays at the 2014 SEMA Show, attendees with media credentials are also invited to celebrate at the second annual “Honda Soirée,” November 4, from 10:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m. at the Tao Nightclub inside The Venetian hotel complex.
