2016 SEMA Show Exhibitors Offering Products to Vehicle Builders

Exhibitors can use the Project-Vehicle Builders form to offer parts to builders planning to construct a project vehicle for the 2016 SEMA Show.

Exhibitors at the 2016 SEMA Show are invited to expand their reach, product exposure and Show-floor presence by offering products to builders through the Products for Project-Vehicle Builders list. The list connects manufacturers with builders looking to create or complete a vehicle project—offering exhibitors the additional exposure of their product displayed on today’s hottest custom vehicles.

Updated each week in SEMA eNews, the association’s electronic newsletter, the list features product offers and contact information provided by confirmed SEMA Show exhibitors. Builders interested in obtaining a product can use the information listed to contact exhibitors directly. With all project vehicles required to be supported by a current 2016 SEMA Show exhibitor, all product-placement decisions, negotiations and agreements are the responsibility of the exhibiting manufacturer and the builder.

Exhibitors: Each submission will appear on a first-come, first-served basis beginning June 2016. All submissions are due by Friday, October 7, 2016.

Builders: If you are building a vehicle for the 2016 SEMA Show, consider submitting an application to participate in the Battle of the Builders competition. The competition will be held during SEMA Ignited—an extravaganza that will close out the 2016 SEMA Show, and includes food, music, celebrities, iconic builders and displays. The event gives the public, media, SEMA Show exhibitors, attendees and guests a rare opportunity to collect and share images of hundreds of customized vehicles featuring the newest and most innovative products from the SEMA Show. The 2016 NHRA Breakfast, held annually at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, will continue the celebration of NHRA’s 50 years of Funny Car with some of the sport’s biggest stars, Wednesday, November 2, from 7:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m., at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino Paradise Event Center South.

Funny Car drivers featured during the NHRA breakfast have included such pioneers as Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen and “Jungle Pam” Hardy, along with current Funny Car racers John Force and Del Worsham.

The popular annual SEMA Show event, which has showcased many of NHRA’s legendary drivers, team owners and other characters within the sport, has grown into a must-see affair for Show attendees, and this year’s program promises to continue that tradition.

NHRA has been celebrating 50 years of Funny Car in a season-long promotion that has featured fan-favorite cars, explained the evolution of the category, remembered the greatest rivalries, and put the spotlight on the legends who drove the cars in some of the most memorable side-by-side races in NHRA history. From the signature long, smoky burnouts to the wild and zany rides that are often the result of a full run in the volatile short-wheelbase, high-horsepower, nitro-fueled monsters, Funny Car has firmly established its place in the world of NHRA Drag Racing.

Continuing the celebration, NHRA will bring together some of the most notable Funny Car drivers in NHRA history at this year’s NHRA Breakfast. They will discuss their memories and legacies in the world’s most diverse motorsport.

Prudhomme, known as “The Snake,” had 49 NHRA national event victories—35 in Funny Car, 14 in Top Fuel—and four consecutive Funny Car world championships from 1975 to 1978. As a team owner, Prudhomme notched 63 victories and two Top Fuel world championships, which came in 2002 and 2003 with Larry Dixon as his driver.

McEwen, also known as “Mongoose,” won four national events in his career, but is most remembered for his storied rivalry with Prudhomme. McEwen chose the nickname “Mongoose” because it was the only animal that could kill a snake. McEwen only beat Prudhomme once in his career at the 1978 U.S. Nationals in a storybook ending as McEwen was mourning the loss of his son to leukemia just weeks before the race. After McEwen earned the victory and sat in his car overwhelmed with emotion, Prudhomme slipped under the body to join his rival for a moment that has been voted the Most Memorable Moment in U.S. Nationals history.

Hardy, or “Jungle Pam” as she is better known, was a legendary back-up girl who toured with historic racer “Jungle Jim” Liberman in the ’70s. Liberman met 18-year-old Pam while she was in high school. She went on to tour with him and helped him back up after burnouts. Liberman had one national event win in NHRA competition at the 1975 Summernationals in Englishtown New Jersey.

Force, a 16-time Funny Car world champion, has 146 career victories and counting. He is the winningest driver in NHRA history, and this season Force has three wins, two coming back-to-back during the famed NHRA Western Swing at the Denver and Sonoma events. Force, who also won the most recent race in Charlotte, North Carolina, to start the six-race Countdown playoff to the championship, is making a strong push for his 17th Funny Car world title.

Worsham is the reigning Funny Car world champion and one of only three drivers to have world titles in both Funny Car and Top Fuel (2011). He has 39 career victories—31 in Funny Car and eight in Top Fuel. Worsham has one win this season in Brainerd, Minnesota, and four runner-up finishes.

As part of the SEMA breakfast, NHRA will announce the top two Funny Cars of all-time from the fan voting this season that has counted down the top 20. The winner will be announced at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, California, November 10–13.

The NHRA Breakfast at the SEMA Show is open to all registered SEMA Show attendees, and although there is no cost to attend, tickets are required. A continental breakfast will be served. While the first new-product submission is always free, the deadline to enter an additional product in the New Products Showcase and receive the advance rate of $75 is Friday, October 7. After the deadline, the fee is $150 for each additional product entered into the Showcase. Budget Checklist – Double check your Show prep.

The budget checklist form allows you to keep track of all your costs and ensure that you are adequately prepared for your experience at the SEMA Show. Exhibitor Appointed Contractor (EAC) Application – If you are using one, you must submit the EAC form.

EACs must conform to the EAC Rules of the SEMA Show and the Las Vegas Convention Center & Visitors Authority. Further, you must complete the EAC form by Friday, October 14. Third-party contractors subject to the EAC Rules are any companies and/or individuals that provide services to exhibitors, including, but not limited to, an installation and dismantling company, exhibit builder, sound and lighting company, production or promotion company, model or hostess service, florist, computer rental, detailer or any person or company providing direct services other than the official contractors listed in Exhibitor Services on SEMAshow.com.

Mothers Wipedown
Exhibitors interested in receiving a vehicle wipe-down each day of the Show must apply by Friday, October 7.

Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners Offers Free Vehicle Wipe-Downs

Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners will sponsor a free vehicle wipe-down program for 2016 SEMA Show exhibitors. The service is limited to the first 200 exhibitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested exhibitors need to apply by Friday, October 7. One booth or feature vehicle per exhibitor is eligible and will receive a wipe-down each day of the Show.

All program participants will receive a Mothers decal that must be displayed in a highly visible area on the vehicle for the duration of the Show. All of the Show’s registered feature vehicles will also receive a free package of Mothers car care products and an entry card for the Mothers Shine Award.

The 7 Things Successful SEMA Show Exhibitors Must Do

SEMA Trade Show Director Tom Gattuso's "The 7 Things Successful SEMA Show Exhibitors Must Do" session will provide insight and tips that attendees can turn into immediate action on the Show floor.

For most companies that exhibit at the SEMA Show, the time their people spend working the booth on the Show floor may very well be the most valuable four days of the year. So, it is essential for exhibitors to ensure that the staff members manning their booths are prepared. That’s why, for the first time ever, SEMA Show Education will offer a session entitled “The 7 Things Successful SEMA Show Exhibitors Must Do.”

The one-hour session, open to any company exhibiting at this year’s SEMA Show, will take place Monday, October 31, at 4:00 p.m., the afternoon before the Show opens, in the Westgate Theater. SEMA Trade Show Director Tom Gattuso, with more than 20 years of experience in automotive events, will offer his insights and tips that session attendees can turn into immediate action on the Show floor. This session, on the eve of the Show, promises to motivate, entertain and prepare exhibitors for a productive event. It is open to all booth personnel. Advance Rate on New Products Showcase Entries Expires Friday, October 7 – Submit now to save.

While the first new-product submission is always free, the deadline to enter an additional product in the New Products Showcase and receive the advance rate of $75 is Friday, October 7. After the deadline, the fee is $150 for each additional product entered into the Showcase. Budget Checklist – Double check your Show prep.

The budget checklist form allows you to keep track of all your costs and ensure that you are adequately prepared for your experience at the SEMA Show. Check out the video presentation from SEMA’s Tom Gattuso and Brendan Gillespie on Booth Design/Budgeting for additional tips and how to avoid last-minute surprises and unexpected expenses.

Exhibitor Appointed Contractor (EAC) Application – If you are using one, you must submit the EAC form.

EACs must conform to the EAC Rules of the SEMA Show and the Las Vegas Convention Center & Visitors Authority. Further, you must complete the EAC form by Friday, October 14. Third-party contractors subject to the EAC Rules are any companies and/or individuals that provide services to exhibitors, including, but not limited to, an installation and dismantling company, exhibit builder, sound and lighting company, production or promotion company, model or hostess service, florist, computer rental, detailer or any person or company providing direct services other than the official contractors listed in Exhibitor Services on SEMAshow.com.

Mothers Wipedown
Exhibitors interested in receiving a vehicle wipe-down each day of the Show must apply by Friday, October 7.

Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners Offers Free Vehicle Wipe-Downs

Mothers Polishes-Waxes-Cleaners will sponsor a free vehicle wipe-down program for 2016 SEMA Show exhibitors. The service is limited to the first 200 exhibitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested exhibitors need to apply by Friday, October 7. One booth or feature vehicle per exhibitor is eligible and will receive a wipe-down each day of the Show.

All program participants will receive a Mothers decal that must be displayed in a highly visible area on the vehicle for the duration of the Show. All of the Show’s registered feature vehicles will also receive a free package of Mothers car care products and an entry card for the Mothers Shine Award.

Weego to Provide Free Jump Starts at 2016 SEMA Show

Weego is the Authorized SEMA Jump Starting Service Sponsor for the 2016 SEMA Show. SEMA Trade Show Director Tom Gattuso's "The 7 Things Successful SEMA Show Exhibitors Must Do" session will provide insight and tips that attendees can turn into immediate action on the Show floor.

For most companies that exhibit at the SEMA Show, the time their people spend working the booth on the Show floor may very well be the most valuable four days of the year. So, it is essential for exhibitors to ensure that the staff members manning their booths are prepared. That’s why, for the first time ever, SEMA Show Education will offer a session entitled “The 7 Things Successful SEMA Show Exhibitors Must Do.”

The one-hour session, open to any company exhibiting at this year’s SEMA Show, will take place Monday, October 31, at 4:00 p.m., the afternoon before the Show opens, in the Westgate Theater. SEMA Trade Show Director Tom Gattuso, with more than 20 years of experience in automotive events, will offer his insights and tips that session attendees can turn into immediate action on the Show floor. This session, on the eve of the Show, promises to motivate, entertain and prepare exhibitors for a productive event. It is open to all booth personnel. Doug Evans in Conversation With Next-Gen Racers

Who will be the next-gen racers, team engineers and professionals who make up tomorrow’s motorsports and performance industries?

Go to the “Conversations” series’ Wednesday-morning session, when SEMA Board Chairman Doug Evans talks “Performance Careers” with two racers on the grid you should know: IndyCar driver Lyn St. James—one of only seven women to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 and the first woman to be named Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year—and Julia Landauer—a recent STEM graduate of Stanford University and now a full-time Toyota stock-car driver on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

Everyone involved in next-generation performance and motorsports may not have a degree from Stanford, but they will have to be tuned into science, technology, engineering and math in a way previous generations of professionals never were.

“Racing technologies and performance products are critical to the continued relevance and innovation within the SEMA community for longtime members as well as next-generation businesses, racers, enthusiasts and fans,” said John Waraniak, SEMA vice president of vehicle technology. “Performance vehicles launched at this year’s auto shows are excellent examples of advanced technology transfer from the track to the street in the areas of vehicle electronics, software, aerodynamics, materials, data acquisition and systems engineering.”

One of Evans’ highest priorities as SEMA chairman has been to entice students to study engineering and technology and aspire for the exciting jobs in racing and performance. Evans, also president and CEO of High Performance Advisors, wants to ensure students interested in these careers take the right paths.

Waraniak will lead the November 2 conversation with Evans, Landauer and her mentor St. James.

“Right now, the talent pipeline to next-generation motorsports is pretty slim,” Waraniak said. “There are thousands of vacancies with automakers and suppliers in performance and racing that they can’t fill.”

This session is a must-attend to anybody interested in the future of motorsports and any young person who wants to discover the path and hit their marks with a next-generation career in the performance industry.

“You’re going to learn the information and trends you need to know regarding how motorsports and careers in the performance industry are evolving,” Waraniak said.
