This year, the SEMA Action Network (SAN) is celebrating two decades of political horsepower. Over the past 20 years, long battles have been waged over “Cash for Clunker” initiatives, unfair exhaust-noise restrictions, excessive taxes, titling and registration problems, backyard builds, racing and a slew of other issues. From fax machines to Facebook, the SAN’s history is chronicled on the SAN website

Stop by booth #60003 at the SEMA Show outside the convention walls of Central Hall to learn more about the SAN’s long-standing efforts to keep our prized vehicles on the road. Also, meet automotive media personality and racing fan Courtney Hansen, Thursday, November 2, from 12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.

For more about the SEMA Show, please visit the official website. Contact Colby Martin at san@sema.org for additional information.

The ’72 Ford Maverick commonly referred to as “Project Underdog” will make an appearance at this month’s Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction in Las Vegas. The vehicle, restored and remodeled by actor Sung Kang, made national headlines after debuting at the Shell “Pioneering Performance” booth during last year’s SEMA Show. It will be up for auction October 21.

Kang, known for his role in the car film series The Fast and the Furious, teamed up with Shell, Pennzoil, SEMA and three students aspiring to be automotive technicians to transform a commonly overlooked ’72 Ford Maverick into eye candy.

All the proceeds from its sale will benefit the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Foundation, which is devoted to fostering the next generation of automotive aftermarket industry leaders and innovators. The Maverick will cross the block Saturday, October 21, 2017, and is assigned to Lot #3005.
