Collector Car Appreciation Day

Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD) will be celebrated this year on July 13. At the request of SEMA, this holiday has been marked each year since 2010 by a U.S. Senate Resolution recognizing that the “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.”

As in years past, a wide range of automotive events will be held to commemorate the occasion. As this annual event continues to grow worldwide, states, provinces, counties and cities are following suit with their own recognition. SEMA encourages participation throughout the month of July to honor the classics of the past and the future.

Check out the SEMA Action Network’s (SAN) video PSA for tips on setting up your tribute:

Please share it with your friends using the following link: https://youtu.be/AG3AHQ1IwA0.

Celebrate the hobby your way!

  • Attend an official vehicle-inspired event.
  • Host your own gathering or club meeting.
  • Promote a holiday sale at your business.
  • Drive your special ride, new or old, whatever the destination.

Plan and submit your July event at no cost. Locate a listing near you and more on the SEMA Action Network’s website.

Participating organizers will be awarded a copy of the congressional resolution for display at each registered event.

More than 110 representatives from SEMA-member companies will descend on the nation’s capital to participate in SEMA’s 2018 Washington Rally, Wednesday, May 16.

During the event, SEMA members will urge Congress to pass H.R. 350/S.203, the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act. The bipartisan bill would protect Americans’ right to modify street vehicles into dedicated racecars and the industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete. More than 180 members of Congress have cosponsored the RPM Act, and the number continues to grow.

Members will also raise awareness of other issues facing the specialty-equipment industry, including harmful tariffs, preventing higher ethanol content in gasoline and saving the Bonneville Salt Flats.

“One-on-one meetings with legislators are among the best ways to impact lawmakers who are making decisions that affect SEMA-member businesses,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “The SEMA Washington Rally helps lawmakers hear directly from constituents and informs them about the issues that are most important to our industry.”

Exhibitors have begun selecting their spaces for the 2018 SEMA Show—to be held October 30–November 2, in Las Vegas—during the Priority Booth Space Selection Process, which kicked off April 30 and ends May 16. View the online floorplan (click on the hall you wish to view) and watch as exhibitors secure their locations and confirm their booth numbers.

The Priority Booth Space Selection Process will include more than 2,000 exhibiting companies through its conclusion later this month. Companies that have yet to choose their booth location can check the floorplan throughout the day to see how the layout of the 2018 SEMA Show is developing. About an hour prior to their assigned selection time, exhibitors are encouraged to prepare by viewing the 2018 Show’s floorplan. Updated every 15 minutes, exhibitors can monitor their desired sections to gain a general idea of where they want to display.

The Central Hall—which includes the Racing & Performance, Hot Rod Alley, Restoration Marketplace and First-Time & Featured Exhibitors sections—and the North Hall—which features the Collision Repair & Refinish, Mobile Electronics & Technology, Restyling & Car Care Accessories and Tools & Equipment sections—are almost full. The Upper South Hall—which includes Trucks, SUV & Off-Road; Powersports & Utility Vehicles; First-Time & Features Exhibitors; and Business Services—and Lower South Hall—which includes the Global Tire Expo Powered by TIA and Wheels & Tires—are currently being filled.

Exhibitors should have been contacted via email with their date and booth selection time range by April 27. Those who did not receive a correspondence, want to change the primary Show contact listed on their application, or have any other questions or concerns should contact a sales representative at sales@sema.org or call 909-396-0289.

Companies interested in buying a booth at the upcoming event can visit the SEMA Show website for more information; however, these exhibitors are not eligible to participate in the current space selection process.
