SEMA Cares Petty Mustang
Auctioned through Mecum Auctions in Indianapolis, the Petty’s Garage/SEMA Cares ’15 Ford Mustang was sold last weekend for $125,000.

The Petty’s Garage/SEMA Cares ’15 Ford Mustang sold last weekend for $125,000. The Mustang—powered by a 5.0L engine mated to a six-speed transmission—was built for Ford to display at the 2014 SEMA Show, and launched the partnership between Ford Motor Co. and Petty’s Garage.

Auctioned through Mecum Auctions in Indianapolis, all proceeds benefit Victory Junction, which enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camp experiences in a medically safe environment.

The car was the 43rd auctioned off on Saturday, May 21, symbolizing Richard Petty’s car number (43). The car was featured in Blue Emu commercials with Johnny Bench and used in the filming of former AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson’s television show “Cars That Rock,” which prompted the purchase of his first domestic car.

The Mustang is the tenth vehicle that SEMA Cares has been involved with and auctioned. In total, SEMA Cares has now raised nearly $2 million through the SEMA Pinewood Drag Races and vehicle builds.

Nissan looks to be capitalizing on more configurations of the redesigned Titan, with both the standard and XD models, and the upcoming single-cab version of the fullsize truck. Now it looks like Nissan will add more derivatives of the standard-cab variant, with what looks to be a more aggressive version.

While fleet-oriented regular cabs will have a V6 and sparse interiors, this version sports the larger wheels from the Platinum models, suggesting a heavier-duty suspension and more power from the 5.6L V8 in the four-door trucks. It also appears to have the short 5½-ft. bed, rather than the longer 8-ft. version seen on work-truck examples. While base regular cabs will be limited in options, it’s possible this “Sport Titan” would be available with the more sophisticated features found on the more expensive four-door models.

Competing against models, such as the Ram 1500 Sport, this could be Nissan’s way of injecting performance into a profitable pickup niche, however small it is. Still, it’s another way the Titan can stand out among the more dominant fullsize truck forces.
