Bronco
The classic early Bronco, at right, is the inspiration for the all new ’21 Bronco lineup, which includes two- and four-door models and a wide range of models and configurations.

The all-new Bronco re-enters the scene with an all-4x4 lineup, with production beginning in early 2021 and first models arriving in Ford dealerships next spring. Bronco owners can choose from an extensive lineup of more than 200 factory-backed accessories for maximum personalization, enabling dealers to provide outfitting-on-demand for each customer’s individual adventure needs.

Models range from a base Bronco—a no-frills SUV for those who want to customize their own—to Big Bend, Black Diamond and Outer Banks with a variety of options and colors, topping out with Wildtrak and Badlands for more extreme off-road adventuring. A limited-production First Edition will be offered at launch. Base MSRP will be $29,995.

Two 4x4 systems are offered on all Bronco models, a base setup and advanced 4x4. The base system utilizes a two-speed electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case, while the optional advanced system features a two-speed electromechanical transfer case that adds an auto mode for on-demand engagement to select between 2H and 4H. Power is distributed to a Dana 44 AdvanTEK solid rear axle and Dana AdvanTEK independent front differential unit—both with available Spicer Performa-TraK electronic locking differentials for improved traction over rough terrain.

Available segment-first Trail Toolbox includes Trail Control—cruise control for low-speed trail driving—while Trail Turn Assist tightens off-road turning radiuses through torque vectoring, and Trail One-Pedal Drive acceleration/braking control makes for more precise slow-mode rock crawling.

Bronco
Quick-release stowable roof panels will be available on select versions. The instrument package is designed with off-road functionality in mind. An integrated high-strength steel roll cage with integrated air bags is part of an advanced safety package.

Running gear includes EcoBoost engines with seven-speed manual transmission and available 35-in. tires. Optional features aimed at providing all-terrain capability  include 11.6-in. ground clearance, 94.75:1 crawl ratio, maximum 29-degree breakover angle and 37.2-degree departure angle, plus water fording capability of up to 33.5 in. Off-road capability is further reinforced by exposed tow hooks in the front and rear and available heavy-duty modular steel bumpers with integrated Ford Performance accessory winch mount.

The 2.7L EcoBoost V6 engine is projected to produce 310 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 2.3L EcoBoost is targeted to deliver torque of 310 lb.-ft. with an expected 270 hp. For maximum low-speed rock-climbing capability, a segment-first seven-speed (6+1) manual transmission paired with the available advanced 4x4 system with automatic on-demand engagement generates a class-leading available crawler-gear ratio of 94.75:1. An available segment-first SelectShift 10-speed automatic transmission makes for easier driving on- and off-road, while offering a maximum 67.8:1 crawl ratio with the available advanced 4x4 transfer case.

The underside features strategically placed steel shields to protect critical hardware. Higher-capability models get an available front bash plate, plus shields for the engine, transmission, transfer case and fuel tank. For those taking on the roughest rocky trails, Bronco’s available side rock rails are strong enough to support the weight of each side of the vehicle.

A modern high-strength steel roll cage, with integrated side curtain airbags in the upper structure and seats, helps protect passengers from side impacts and complements driver and front passenger airbags. Available Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assist technologies plus standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and Trailer Sway Control help instill driver confidence.

The instrument panel is inspired by the first-generation model, with gauges and controls clearly visible and intuitive. Colors and materials are inspired by natural palettes and outdoor gear and designed with off-road functionality in mind.

Bronco two-door and four-door models have quick-release stowable roof panels and doors on select versions. Optional available off-road drive technology packages and digital trail mapping allow owners to plan, record and share their experiences via an all-in-one app.

The ’21 Bronco two- and four-door SUVs will be built at Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, and can be reserved at www.ford.com for $100.

Jeep

Jeep has announced the new 3.0L EcoDiesel V-6 engine, rated at 260 hp and 442 lb.-ft. of torque, with engine stop-start (ESS) technology standard, is available on Gladiator Sport, Overland and Rubicon models. To handle greater torque loads, the EcoDiesel V-6 connects to a newly added TorqueFlite 8HP75 eight-speed automatic transmission, calibrated for low RPM shifts and the on- and off-road rigors of Jeep Gladiator duty.

Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel Sport, Overland, and Rubicon models feature third-generation Dana 44 front and rear heavy-duty axles. Additionally, all Gladiator EcoDiesel models feature a 3.73 axle ratio. The Rock-Trac two-speed transfer case with a 4.0:1 low-range gear ratio is standard on Rubicon models and the Command-Trac part-time two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio on Sport and Overland models.

The ’21 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel goes on sale in the third quarter of 2020 and customers can order now.

The engine employs the latest turbocharging technology, including  a new-generation water-cooled turbocharger with variable geometry turbine (VGT) and low-friction bearing. High-pressure (29,000 psi/2,000 bar) direct-injection fuel injector nozzles increase power and efficiency, reducing fuel consumption.

A new 5.1-gallon diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank is located immediately behind the fuel tank with refill location next to the diesel fuel filler. DEF refills align with oil changes lasting up to 10,000 miles. Levels are monitored via a new DEF gauge in the front cluster.

The 3.0L EcoDiesel V-6 engine is produced at the FCA Cento facility in Ferrara, Italy.

Feature Vehicle
Feature vehicles provide exhibitors the ability to highlight products and upgrades on cars and trucks positioned in designated areas away from the company’s SEMA Show booth.

The deadline to apply for a feature vehicle at the 2020 SEMA Show is July 31. Exhibitors planning a feature vehicle for the Show are encouraged to mark their calendars now to allow ample time to choose the best car to represent their brand and promote its appearance appropriately.

Feature vehicles provide exhibitors the ability to highlight products and upgrades on cars and trucks positioned in designated areas away from the company’s SEMA Show booth. With unique style and unmatched innovations, feature vehicles are a visual marketing tool to help generate an organic appeal for an exhibitor’s products.

All feature vehicles must be approved and paid for by qualified exhibiting companies. Criteria for placement is based on how the exhibiting company’s products are showcased on the vehicle, whether the car has been featured in the SEMA Show previously, how complete the vehicle build is, and to what degree the vehicle captures all elements of the specialty-equipment market.

Each qualified exhibiting company is guaranteed placement for one feature vehicle. Additional vehicles will be prioritized by the exhibitors, using an electronic form that will be provided by SEMA Show management after July 31.

Complete details about feature vehicle registration are available in the Exhibitor Services Manual (ESM).

Questions about the process can be directed to Maurice O'Connell at mauriceo@sema.org or 909-978-6660.
