SEMA Chairman Nate Shelton encourages participation in the SEMA Pinewood Drag Races to benefit the children of Childhelp and Victory Junction.

Each year, generous individuals around the United States step up to sponsor cars for SEMA's Pinewood Drag Races, and SEMA councils challenge each other for the Council Cup. This is all done in support of SEMA Cares charities, such as Childhelp and Victory Junction, which both support children in need. This year's event will take place near the historic Pomona Raceway—the perfect setting for a drag race—at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Convention Center in Pomona, California, July 18, 2014. No one is more encouraged by the volume of this year's Pinewood Drag Races sponsorships than SEMA Chairman of the Board Nate Shelton.

"Pomona is home to some of the most historic drag racing in history, and it's the perfect setting for serious SEMA competition that ultimately helps children in need," said Shelton. Held in conjunction with the annual SEMA Installation Gala, the SEMA Cares Pinewood Drag Races take place at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Convention Center in Pomona, California, Friday, July 18, 2014, at 12:00 p.m.

Proceeds from the races benefit SEMA Cares charities, including Childhelp and Victory Junction. Childhelp assists abused and neglected children by providing counseling and programs in a safe and secure living environment. Victory Junction provides the camp experience for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses who otherwise would not be able to go to camp.

Legislation to prohibit a person from selling gasoline that contains more than 10% ethanol died when the legislature adjourned for the year.

Legislation to prohibit a person from selling gasoline that contains more than 10% ethanol died when the legislature adjourned for the year. The bill had been approved by the New Hampshire House of Representatives, but stalled in the Senate when the bill was sent out for study. Under a House committee amendment, the bill would have only taken effect if any two additional New England states adopted similar legislation limiting the amount of corn-based ethanol in gasoline to 10%.
