The annual Young Executives Network (YEN) reception was help on Tuesday night, November 2, at the Renaissance Hotel pool deck during the 2010 SEMA Show. The reception allowed attendees the opportunity to network with peers and industry leaders, including members of the SEMA Board of Directors, SEMA staff and SEMA Hall of Fame members.

Each year, YEN announces its Young Executive of the Year Award winner and its Vanguard award winner at the annual networking reception. The Young Executive of the Year award is presented to an individual who has had a positive impact on the industry. The recipient of the award must be a member of YEN and have demonstrated exceptional service, integrity, professional growth and business ethics throughout the last 12 months. This year’s finalists for the Young Executive of the Year award were Melanie White from Hellwig Products, Mandi Woodell from Weathers Auto Supply, Famous Rhodes from eBay Motors, Darron Shubin from MagnaFlow and Jason Snyder from Edelbrock. The winner of the 2010 Young Executive of the Year award was Darron Shubin.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers,” said Shubin. “I want to thank YEN for acknowledging my career efforts with this award, and I want to thank all of those who have helped me along the way.”

The YEN Vanguard award is bestowed on an individual, business, organization or sanctioning body that has influenced the professional growth and/or cultivation of talent for young executives through its actions, mentoring, visions and/or contributions for the past, present and future. This year’s YEN Vanguard winner was Rich Barsamian of ACT, who also won the Young Executive of the Year Award in 2001.

“YEN was a part of my early career,” said Barsamian. “I gave it everything I had when I first became a member, and I like to think that I helped shape what it is today. It also helped shape me. For all of those young people out there in the industry wondering where to start, this is where you need to get your feet wet with industry service. Trust me, you won’t regret it.”

YEN also recognized one other special member at its 2010 reception. YEN gave a special Chairman’s Award to Fred Snow of Hella Inc. in recognition of his dedicated service to the YEN Select Committee. Snow served on the YEN Select Committee from 1998 to 2009.
