The SEMA Businesswomen's Network (SBN) has introduced a new Ally Spotlight program to recognize industry leaders who are actively supporting the growth and success of women in the automotive aftermarket.

The newest spotlight features Seth Metzger, senior vice president of Dana Incorporated. Learn how Metzger supports an ally movement and mindset in the following SEMA News interview.

SEMA News: What do you do to support the ally mentality and women's empowerment?

Seth Metzger: Increase the quantity of women in the organization, promote women to leadership roles and engage with STEM initiatives at schools/universities and local community science center.

SN: Why do you feel that being an ally is important?

SM: It's a moral obligation to our community. Everyone deserves the same chance for success.

SN: What have you found to be the most important/valuable part of being an ally?

SM: Seeing someone succeed. Maybe they just needed the chance or some encouragement, but seeing how amazing someone can be at a leadership role or technical role is exciting.

SN: How long have you been in the industry?

SM: More than 20 years.

SN: What advice do you have for those that want to become an ally?

SM: There are many reasons to become an ally. It could be for business reasons, moral obligation or something more personal--either is ok. The important thing is that you act to support equity in your work environment.

SN: How does someone spread the ally mentality?

SM: Engage with your team. Discuss why being an ally matters to you and start a task force to solve unique challenges that prevent diversity from growing in your team.
