Learn more about Fix in her Q&A with SEMA and the SBN:

SEMA: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Lauren Fix: To have multiple income streams. My father always told me that nothing can stop you but yourself. I have advised others to blaze a trail and never follow.

SEMA: What keeps you involved in this industry?

LF: I love the people; they are inclusive and supportive. My best memories and friendships are because of the automotive industry and the amazing people. Our common bond is the passion for automobiles.

SEMA: On a Saturday, where can you be found?

LF: Typically, I am working on projects from paperwork, to working on our restoration vehicles, to reviewing vehicles, and covering the auto industry. It is all encompassing. During the race season, I prefer to be at the track. My husband races in SCCA Trans-Am, IMSA and I race an ’01 Jaguar XKRS in SVRA.

SEMA: How do you prepare for an important meeting?

LF: I am always confident, as I do my homework and come prepared with more than necessary. Always be over prepared if you plan to get the job.

SEMA: If you could go to lunch with one industry leader, living or dead, who would it be?

LF: Lee Iacocca. He was an industry leader who made massive changes against all odds. It would be great to discuss how he overcame obstacles, his perspective on the industry and how he side changes before others.
