Developed through the experiences of many MPMC-member companies, the 69-page Business Guidelines Manual is filled with proven standards for getting products into the hands of end users.

Manufacturers who are reviewing or updating policies related to orders, price changes, terms of sales, returned checks and more can access the SEMA Motorsports Parts Manufacturing Council (MPMC) Business Guidelines Manual. Developed through the experiences of many MPMC-member companies, the 69-page document is filled with proven standards for getting products into the hands of end users.

“While each member is unique and distribution channels differ, there are many commonalities that manufacturers share,” said SEMA Council Director Jim Skelly. “The MPMC council identified the most prevalent topics and questions that manufacturers had, and have provided guidance and samples to help speed up the learning curve. The guidelines were developed by experienced companies who have already gone through the learning process.”

The manual features more than 15 chapters dedicated to industry-related topics such as Contract Terms and Conditions, Packaging Guidelines, Prop 65, BAR/UPC Codes, Product Liability, EDI, MAP and more.

Additional chapters and topics include:

  • Selling direct versus through distribution
  • Cooperative Advertising Programs
  • Freight Policy Practices
  • Debt Collections
  • Export Sales
  • Catalog and Price Sheet Guidelines
  • Counterfeiting
