Legislation (SB 460) was introduced in the California Senate to allow motor-vehicle owners the option of moving to a biennial registration period. The choice to register biennially would not be mandatory.

The bill was unanimously passed by the Senate Transportation Committee on April 9 and now moves to the Appropriations Committee for further consideration.
