Luke Merrill of Tinman 2 Kustoms, a Top 10 Young Guns and Top 40 overall contestant in last year’s SEMA Battle of the Builders, is competing again this year with a ’40 Chevy two-door sedan he is building for his mother. The vehicle will be on display at the 2018 SEMA Show as a feature vehicle.

“For 25 years, my mom has wanted a hot rod of her own to cruise to shows with dad and the kids when we were young,” Merrill said. “This car has been sitting in our garage for the entirety of those 25 years—dad just never had the time or money to get to it with his ongoing health issues. He would do a bit here and there until money ran out or something came up.”

Leveraging his success at last year’s Show, Merrill was able to secure parts from several SEMA-member manufacturers, including: AirLift, AirSlamIt, ArcOne Welding, Auto City Classic, AutoMeter, AVS, B&M, Big Al’s Carponents, Blue Demon Welding, Cambridge Upholstery, Chevs of the 40’s, Detroit Steel Wheel, Empire Abrasives, Energy Suspension, Engineered Components Inc (ECI), Fairchild industries, FiTech, Flowmaster, Forever Sharp Steering Wheels, GC Cooling, JAZ Products, JET Chip, LizardSkin, Metro Moulded Parts, Milwaukee Tool, Monster Transmission, MSD, Nitrous Express, Oracle Lighting, POR-15, Power Acoustik, Pypes, RADAR Tires, Retro Manufacturing, Rockford Fosgate, Speedway Motors, Summit Racing, TKO Clamping Systems, VIAIR, Vintage Air, Wilwood and Yukon Gear & Axle
