New Jersey Bill to Require Warranty Disclosure Approved by Committee; Moves to Assembly Floor

By SEMA Washington, D.C., Staff

Legislation to require new-car dealers to provide purchasers a written statement declaring it is illegal for manufacturers or dealers to void a warranty or deny coverage because aftermarket or recycled parts were installed was amended and approved by the Assembly Consumer Affairs Committee. As amended, the bill would now require the vehicle manufacturer to provide the written statement and not the dealer. The bill will now be sent to the floor of the Assembly for a vote by all members.
