Continental Tire and Brembo were named GM Suppliers of the Year by General Motors during its 24th annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony. Turn 14 Distribution Forges Ahead With Introduction of BBS Wheels

Turn 14 Distribution has added BBS Wheels to its line card. With the addition of BBS’ full lineup of road wheels to its assortment, Turn 14 Distribution continues its strategy of expansion to provide its customers with the company’s distinguished wheel offerings. BBS has evolved from a small company founded in 1970 by a pair of amateur racers—Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand—to become a worldwide force in the design, engineering and production of road and racing wheels. The company’s road wheels are divided into three lines. The Forged Line is crafted from either billet aluminum or magnesium alloy, die-forged using up to 18 million lbs. of pressure, and developed with optimized stiffness-to-weight ratios to provide safety and long-term durability. BBS’ Performance Line is created using a flow-forming process, which uses a continuous rotational motion, three hydraulic rollers and high pressure at high temperatures to assist in forming the inner wheel area. The process increases wheel strength and stiffness by changing the mechanical properties of the material. The Design Line uses a low-pressure aluminum casting method to offer a high strength-to-weight ratio while preserving a low cost of acquisition for the consumer.

Bodie Stroud Restores ’41 Plymouth in Celebration of Carl’s Jr.’s 75th Anniversary

Bodie Stroud and the Bodie Stroud Industries (BSI) crew will restore a ’41 Plymouth Super Deluxe for CKE Restaurants CEO Andy Puzder on this week’s episode of “American Restoration,” airing Friday, March 18, at 10:00 p.m./9:00 p.m. (CDT) on HISTORY. Puzder brought the Plymouth to the BSI crew in fair shape for restoration and customization, saying he chose a ’41 Plymouth because it was in 1941 when Carl Karcher and his wife borrowed $311 (equal to $5,217 in today’s economy) against their Plymouth to buy the first hot dog cart that would become Carl’s Jr. The restoration plan includes a special paint job celebrating Carl’s Jr. and infusing it with modern technology for performance and reliability, including an engine upgrade to a late-model HEMI outputting nearly 400 hp. The Super Deluxe will also receive modern steering, upgraded brakes, modern suspension, air conditioning and custom gauges. Once the car has been completed, the plan is for the Plymouth to hit the road and tour select Carl’s Jr. locations across the United States. At the culmination of the tour, the car will then be auctioned off to raise funds for Carl’s Jr.’s Stars for Heroes program supporting American military veterans.
