Sleek New Ford Escape Revealed; CAD Data Available to SEMA Manufacturing Members

CAD file data for the 2013 Escape is available through SEMA's Tech Transfer program to members for use in developing accessories.
   

Scheduled to arrive next year, the ’13 Ford Escape is projected to debut with fuel economy up to 5 mpg better than the outgoing model, thanks in part to 10% better aerodynamics.

It will be offered with optional 1.6L and 2.0L EcoBoost engines for the North American market, or an updated 2.5L four as standard equipment. All engines will be backed by a SelectShift Automatic six-speed transmission.  

According to Ford, 60% of Americans shopping for a vehicle next year will look at either a midsize car or small SUV, making the Escape part of one of the most cross-shopped, fastest-growing segments in the marketplace.  
The newest version of the Escape will offer more cargo volume behind the first and second rows, a trailer tow rating of 3,500 lbs., and a two-position load floor.

Advanced features include a hands-free power liftgate that operates with the kick of a foot, an active grille shutter system that improves aerodynamics, and Intelligent 4WD that uses sensor inputs to turn the vehicle in the direction the driver wants it to go.

CAD file data for the ’13 Escape is available through SEMA's Tech Transfer program to SEMA's manufacturing members for use in developing accessories. The files currently available for the ’13 Ford Escape are: 

  • Front and Rear Fascia
  • Side Rocker Panel Areas & Wheel Well
  • Suspension

Tech Transfer is a collaboration between SEMA members, OEMs and SEMA staff, and the intent of the program is to minimize or eliminate the necessity for reverse engineering. New files are added weekly, and the amount of files and data available is fueled by requests made by SEMA manufacturing members.
