Leading Manufacturers Pitch in Parts for Charity Mustang GT

The WD-40/SEMA Cares Mustang will debut at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas before being auctioned off for charity.

WD-40 has partnered with SEMA’s charity arm, SEMA Cares, to build a custom version of the 2011 Ford Mustang GT, which will debut at the 2010 SEMA Show, November 2–5, in Las Vegas.

Leading aftermarket manufacturers are pitching in to give the classic American musclecar a distinctive WD-40 look. They include a custom body kit from Street Scene Equipment, a Stillen AP racing six-piston brake kit with front calipers, Forgeline wheels and a Paxton supercharger system. Build partners are documenting how they use WD-40 during the remodel process, and video footage will be featured online.

Once completed, the ’11 Ford Mustang GT will be equipped with a 5.0L V8 engine that puts out 600 hp and, in addition to a custom body kit, the car will feature an entertainment system and paint that emulates the WD-40 brand.

The GT, dubbed the “WD-40/SEMA Cares Mustang,” will appear at other select auto-related events on the West Coast, and then be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Show and Auction, January 17–23, 2011, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Proceeds from the sale of the vehicle will go to Childhelp and the Victory Junction Gang Camp children’s charities.
