SEMA Cares Committee Thanks All Racers for Another Successful Pinewood Run

	Modified class winner Justin Hoffend drops the gates on another Pinewood run.

On behalf of SEMA, Joel Ayres, SEMA Cares committee chairman, would like to thank all the participants of the Pinewood Drag Races, held in conjunction with Leadership Days July 24, 2010, at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.

The drag races featured hundreds of pinewood cars, most built by children at Childhelp and Victory Junction Gang Camp and sponsored by SEMA-member companies.

The SEMA Businesswomen's Network, running a pinewood car developed by Mitch Williams and Pilot Automotive, took both the Council Cup and Grand National trophies. Justin Hoffend, meanwhile, representing SEMA Show logistics handlers Freeman, took first place in the Modified class.

"The response this year to sponsoring the cars that kids built was overwhelming," Ayres said. "SEMA members sponsored more than 200 cars built at the Victory Junction Gang Camp in North Carolina and the Childhelp Villages in Virginia and California. These kids had fun building them, we had fun racing them and money was raised to help these children have a better life. On behalf of SEMA Cares, I'd like to thank all the derby drag race sponsors and kids' car sponsors."
