Texas
Legislation (H.B. 1755) has been introduced in Texas to create a titling and registration class for assembled vehicles, including kit cars, custom vehicles and street rods, replica cars and dune buggies.

Legislation (H.B. 1755) has been introduced in Texas to create a titling and registration class for assembled vehicles, including kit cars, custom vehicles and street rods, replica cars and dune buggies. Many of these vehicles are already permitted to be titled and registered under existing state regulations, but dune buggies have been disallowed in recent years. The SEMA-supported legislation would permit their registration and confirm that the other vehicles are also eligible under state law.

The new class of assembled vehicles would be subject to inspection by an ASE-certified Master Technician for basic equipment, including the chassis, tires, wheel assembly, brake system, steering system and lighting equipment, among other items. The bill would exempt a hobbyist constructing an assembled vehicle from being a licensed manufacturer.

The House Transportation Committee held a hearing on the bill March 20 and will likely schedule a vote on the bill in the near future.

For more information, visit the SEMA Action Network (SAN) website.

Superchips EAS Expandable Accessory System

Superchips has released a new Expandable Accessory System (EAS) line for use with the company's Dashpaq+ performance programmer and on-dash monitor combination. The EAS lineup is comprised of sensors that monitor various vehicle functions including fluid temp, EGT, and ambient temp boost pressure, as well as a starter cable and electronic power switch (pictured). The system allows for daisy-chaining the setup, permitting users to connect multiple accessories, including other aftermarket wideband O2 sensors, directly to the Dashpaq+. With EAS enabled, users can monitor and data-log countless sets of parameters, and hook aftermarket accessories directly to their device to turn them on or off from the Dashpaq+ screen without a tangled mass of wires on the dash or under the hood.

Holley Terminator X and X Max EFI Systems for GM LS

Holley has released new a NOS Supercharger Injector Plate Nitrous System. Compatible with both 6-71 and 8-71 Roots-style superchargers and available in your either black or silver, the systems are said to provide 175 additional horsepower, and can add up to extra 250 horsepower with the proper jetting. The NOS systems come with or without a 10-pound nitrous bottle and include everything you need in one comprehensive kit: a low-profile (1/2-inch) aluminum plate, hardline, nozzles, jets, studs, gaskets, a fuel block, and detailed, easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. The systems inject nitrous into the engine at -127 degrees Fahrenheit, and as it mixes with incoming air, it lowers intake temperatures by as much as 75 degrees. This denser intake charge is said to boost power and torque by up to 40 percent across the entire powerband, and because the nitrous can be injected at lower rpm—before the engine reaches full boost—it can eliminate lag time and delivers instantaneous power.
