NHRA FANFEST TAKES TO DOWNTOWN BOSTON: NHRA fans in Boston streamed to Faneuil Hall Marketplace Wednesday to get their first glimpse of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series during a Fanfest. A press conference also took place, and members of the media met with Brittany Force, John Force, Bob Tasca III, Blake Alexander, Shawn Langdon and Robert Hight. The drivers signed thousands of autographs and posed for pictures during the meet and greet for NHRA fans in the Northeast.

ALEX'S LEMONADE STAND, DARRELL GWYNN FOUNDATION JOIN GRAY'S FUNNY CAR TEAM FOR FOUR RACES: At four events during the remainder of the 2013 season, Alex's Lemonade Stand and the Darrell Gwynn Foundation will be featured on the side of the Pitch Energy Funny Car driven by Johnny Gray. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation raises awareness for curing children's cancer, and the Darrell Gwynn Foundation offers support for people with paralysis.

"It's been a real honor to be associated with these folks," Gray said. "This year, to be able to bring together Alex's Lemonade Stand with another group of people who are near to my heart—the Darrell Gwynn Foundation—it just makes me realize that I am extremely blessed."

The ’14 Chevrolet Silverado CAD information is now available through SEMA’s Technology Transfer program. The data is for the Silverado 1500 2WD/4WD Crew Cab model only. As more models become available, additional data will be included in the program.

The U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved HR 1960, the 2014 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The bill includes a provision to end a five-year debate on how to expand the U.S. Marine Corps base at Twentynine Palms, California. Authored by Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA), the provision allows the Marines to have access to the adjoining Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area for up to 60 days per year for training exercises, but the area would be otherwise preserved for recreational use. The NDAA will now be considered by the U.S. Senate.

The provision protects OHV activities by establishing the "Johnson Valley National Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area" under continued management by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It provides for public participation in determining the dates for military activities that will be the least disruptive for OHV activities. The land is used year-round by OHV enthusiasts and is home to numerous motorized events that draw thousands of competitors and spectators to the area every year, including the famous King of the Hammers.

SEMA is urging senators to approve the Johnson Valley provision when the Senate considers the NDAA bill later this summer. Final passage of the NDAA is not expected until this fall.
