Jeff Gordon, four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and current FOX NASCAR broadcast analyst, will headline the PRI Grand Opening Breakfast, Thursday, December 8, 2016, in Indianapolis, where his first-ever authorized biography will be available for sale. Scheduled for release October 18, the book will also be sold at SEMA Gear locations throughout the 2016 SEMA Show.

“I purposely waited until I retired from driving so the book would encompass my entire career,” Gordon said. “People are going to be able to read about me like they’ve never read about me before.”

Gordon’s biography, entitled Jeff Gordon: His Dream, Drive & Destiny is written by Joe Garner, the five-time The New York Times bestselling author of And The Crowd Goes Wild and 100 Yards of Glory. The foreward is written by Tom Cruise, American actor, filmmaker and NASCAR fan.

For more than a year, Garner interviewed and observed Gordon at races, special events and at home. The book is based on extensive interviews with Gordon, as well as in-depth interviews with dozens of family members, friends, competitors and colleagues, some of whom have never gone on the record before. Gordon speaks candidly about his childhood, his much-publicized divorce, those he competed against, his family and life after racing. This fully illustrated hardcover biography will allow privileged access to a wealth of exclusive unseen and rare material from Gordon’s personal photo and memorabilia collection.

Last May, the DOL raised the minimum salary threshold required to qualify for the Fair Labor Standards Act’s “salaried-worker” exemption to $47,476 per year, effective December 1, 2016.  Under the previous rule, management, administrative and professional employees who earn a salary of more than $23,660 per year are exempt from receiving overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours a week. The House bill would maintain the old threshold until June 1, 2017. The White House has threatened a veto if Congress passes the bill, although the Senate has not yet considered legislation delaying the rule.

Legislation has also been introduced in both the House and Senate to phase-in the salary threshold increase for overtime pay. The House bill would provide for increases on December 1 of each year: $35,984 in 2016, $39,780 in 2017, $43,628 in 2018, and $47,476 in 2019. The Senate bill would have four increases over five years. Both bills would also prevent implementation of the DOL rule’s automatic cost-of-living increases scheduled to take place every three years starting in 2020. There has been no action to date on the bills.

Through the SEMA Emissions Compliance Center, staff can perform R&D or certification emissions testing, assist in the analysis of test data (including modal data), prepare certification applications and provide other laboratory and marketing services.

A common misconception is that emissions-related products not sold in California are “49-state legal.” This is not the case. The U.S. Clean Air Act prohibits the modification of street vehicles without proper certification in all 50 states. Fortunately, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) provides a method by which manufacturers can certify emissions–related products. The CARB certification is recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and provides coverage for all 50 states.  

SEMA has untangled both federal and state compliance requirements, and can assist product manufacturers during the process of developing marketable, emissions-compliant products and ready them for store shelves. In fact, SEMA has developed a program that is designed to expedite the process with CARB, allowing members to proceed immediately to product testing, thereby saving enormous amounts of time and energy. Through the SEMA Emissions Compliance Center, staff can perform R&D or certification emissions testing, assist in the analysis of test data (including modal data), prepare certification applications and provide other laboratory and marketing services.
