Holley Performance Products

Hays Twister GM 6L80E Full Race Torque Converters

Holley announced the release of Hays Twister Full Race Torque Converters for GM 6L80E six-speed automatic transmissions. Designed specifically for blown, nitrous and turbocharged trans-brake applications, they're available in four different stall-speed ranges: 2400-2800, 2800-3200, 3200-3600 and 3600-4200.

The torque converters are internally welded (not brazed), which the company says provides longer life and greater consistency, and are also spray-welded, in select areas. Heavy-duty Torrington bearings and carefully selected stators with high-flow vents and channels promote cooling, and a custom-designed anti-balloon plate prevents converter swelling.

MAHLE

CleanLine Fuel Filters

MAHLE Aftermarket's new CleanLine fuel filters were designed by the company to lower maintenance costs for injection nozzles and fuel pumps. According to MAHLE, the spin-on filters offer exceptional water separation efficiency throughout their lifetime. The company also says that the dust retention capacity is also significantly higher than that of conventional filters.

From 2020, two variants of the new CleanLine filter will be available worldwide, with single- or two-stage separation. The single-stage variant filters dirt particles and water in one step. The two-stage variant filters in two separate steps: first the dirt and then the water via a water-repellent, synthetic fabric.

The U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee passed legislation to create a commission that would recommend ways to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Route 66, which was commissioned in 1926 as the first all-paved U.S. highway. The “Route 66 Centennial Commission Act,” S. 1014, creates a 15-person commission with representatives appointed by the President of the United States, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Speaker of the U.S. House, President of the U.S. Senate, and Governors of Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

The bill provides the commission with five years to make recommendations to the President and Congress, outlining financial and administrative responsibilities for celebrating the 100th anniversary. The commission may recommend the production of various written materials, films and documentaries, education programs, artistic works, commemorative memorabilia and celebrations to commemorate Route 66’s storied history.

The bipartisan bill now awaits action on the U.S. Senate floor. A similar version of the bill, H.R. 66, passed the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year by a margin of 393 to 22.

Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD) will be celebrated this year on July 12. At the request of SEMA, this holiday has been marked each year since 2010 by a U.S. Congressional Resolution recognizing that the “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.” As in years past, a wide range of automotive events will be held to commemorate the occasion. As this annual event continues to grow worldwide, states, provinces, counties and cities are following suit with their own recognition. SEMA encourages participation throughout the month of July to honor the classics of the past and the future.

Plan and submit your July event at no cost, locate a listing near you and more on the SEMA Action Network (SAN) website.

Check out the SAN’s video PSA for tips on setting up your tribute. Please share it with your friends using the following link: https://youtu.be/Y7xdzzhf8eE.

Celebrate the Hobby Your Way!

  • Attend an official vehicle-inspired event.
  • Host your own gathering or club meeting.
  • Promote a “holiday sale” at your business.
  • Invite partnerships with nearby enthusiast-related groups.
  • Drive your special ride, new or old, whatever the destination.

Participating organizers will be awarded a copy of the Congressional resolution for display at their registered event.
