Booth space for the 2013 SEMA Show is now available.

By SEMA Staff

Booth space sales for the 2013 SEMA Show are in full swing. To get started and secure space for November's Show, access the Exhibit Space Rental Agreement (ESRA).

The SEMA Show is the premier automotive trade event, as well as the largest gathering of small businesses in the world. The Show is where specialty-parts manufacturers connect with more than 60,000 quality international and domestic buyers.

The deadline for priority booth space selection has been moved up three weeks. While submissions are accepted anytime before the event takes place from November 5–8, 2013, manufacturers who return their ESRA with a deposit by April 5, 2013, will have greater opportunities to collaborate with Show organizers and participate in the Priority Booth Selection Process.

The selection process is the first opportunity exhibitors have to select the actual location of their SEMA Show booth.

"The Priority Booth Selection Process is the best time for exhibitors to choose their space at the Show," said Tom Gattuso, SEMA director of trade shows. "We highly recommend that exhibitors take part in the space selection process and commit to participating in the SEMA Show as early as possible. This really gives exhibitors the time they need to plan and prepare for the upcoming Show, and it allows our staff to work with and assist as much as possible."

To secure a space at the 2013 SEMA Show, visit www.SEMAShow.com/buyabooth or contact SEMA's Show Management at 702-450-7662 ext. 120 or SalesMgr@ConvExx.com.

Legislation has been introduced in Montana to allow the owner of a motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer or pole trailer manufactured in the year 1948, 1949 or 1950 to display a single original Montana license plate that is affixed to the rear of the vehicle. Under the bill, the original Montana license plate must be legible and bear the year that matches the year in which the vehicle was manufactured. The measure would reinstate the single plate requirement that existed for motor vehicles between 1948–1950.

For more information, visit the SEMA Action Network (SAN) website. For details, contact Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org.

Last year, legislation amended by SEMA to totally exempt from the license tax all vehicles and parts cars stored on private property for the purpose of restoration or repair was vetoed by Governor Bob McDonnell. Under the vetoed bill, vehicles stored within a structure would also have remained exempt from the tax. The bill originally threatened to provide localities with the authority to raise from $100 to $500 the amount charged for an annual license tax for vehicles that do not display current license plates. Identical legislation, which includes the SEMA amendments, has been reintroduced for 2013 and we encourage your support.

Legislation has been introduced in the Missouri Senate to require the issuance of only a single license plate for motor vehicles. The bill, favored by state hobbyists, also applies to personalized plates. If enacted into law, the measure would allow vehicle owners to obtain a second plate under limited circumstances (for example, certain property-carrying commercial motor-vehicle applicants can request two plates). Among other things, the measure would save money, conserve resources and bring Missouri in line with other states that have moved to a single plate requirement.
