Members of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) Education Committee are working with the United Application Standards Group (UASG) at the 2013 SEMA Show to present free demonstrations on proper ways to approach removal and installation (R&I) of vehicle components for the application of wraps and graphics. The UASG represents hundreds of professional graphic installers across the United States, and is dedicated to the development and success of automotive graphics installation businesses.
 
The educational presentations will be held in the UASG booth, Wednesday, November 6, from 3:30 p.m.–4:15 p.m. and Thursday, November 7, from 12:00 p.m.–12:45 p.m. The workshop description is as follows:

SCRS Presents: Disassembly / Reassembly Tips from Repair Experts

A live demonstration and workshop presented by collision-repair experts from the SCRS Education Committee, who will highlight how repair technicians properly remove and reinstall items on a Dodge Challenger. This workshop will demonstrate the necessary tools and proper processes for removing items, such as mirrors, moldings, door handles, emblems, etc. If you are able to remove obstacles from the vehicle, installers can eliminate additional cuts and patches to your wrap, ensuring your finished product looks like paint. This is a great opportunity to interact with technical professionals who can help you enhance your reputation as one who goes the extra mile to make your wraps look stunningly beautiful.

"The collaboration of SCRS and the UASG at this year's SEMA Show is an exciting opportunity for the UASG members to gain valuable insight on the disassembly of vehicles in preparation for installing personalized vehicle wraps," shared UASG President Julie Martin. "The ability for repair specialists and graphic installers to collaborate through educational opportunities that serve to improve our businesses will ultimately build better understanding and access to industry expertise."
 
The demos will be conducted on a Dodge Challenger, which the UASG is using in a contest for their members. Their members design different wraps and compete to see which four designs will be chosen. This year, the theme is Rock N' Roll, and the designs will incorporate this theme. The winner's designs are then produced and installed on the Dodge Challenger during the installation demonstrations that go on in their booth each day. Dodge has donated the car for use in the booth this year.
 
"Collision repairers serve very important roles to our communities and the customers we serve, and the technical expertise we have is equally valuable to many others in related automotive markets," added SCRS Chairman Ron Reichen. "Helping to create awareness about the skills necessary to properly approach repair tasks fits perfectly into SCRS' mission, and nicely compliments our focus on education at the SEMA Show with our Repairer Driven Education series. We are thrilled to work with the UASG and excited that we can fill this type of need at the Show."

As a requirement of the new health care law, the “Affordable Care Act,” all employers must provide written notice of available health care coverage options to their employees by October 1, 2013, regardless of whether the company offers health care coverage. The notice may be distributed electronically.  

While companies with 49 or fewer workers are not required to offer health care coverage, they must still provide the written notice as a means of making sure workers are aware of the option to purchase insurance through an exchange. Employers are not required to provide separate notice to dependents and other individuals eligible for coverage under a company plan who are not employees.

The written notice must inform the employee of the existence of the health care exchange marketplaces, including a description of the services provided by the exchanges, and how employees can contact the exchanges to request assistance. It must also explain that if the company plan’s share of the total allowed costs of benefits is less than 60% of total cost, the employee may be eligible for a tax credit if a plan is purchased through the exchange. Finally, the notice must state that if the employee purchases a qualified health plan through the exchange, the worker may lose their employer contribution to any health benefit plan offered by the employer.

To assist employers in providing this notice, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) released model notices for employers that provide health plans and for those that do not offer a health plan. DOL also released a helpful guidance document further outlining employer responsibilities.

James Hunt’s iconic ’77 McLaren M26 will be in the spotlight at the RKMCCA auction at the Charlotte Convention Center, October 31–November 3.

RK Motors Collector Car Auctions to Offer Historic Hunt McLaren M26 Formula 1 Racecar
RK Motors Collector Car Auctions (RKMCCA) will offer collector-car enthusiasts the first-ever opportunity to bid on James Hunt’s iconic ’77 McLaren M26 (Lot #3032). The legendary racecar will be in the spotlight at the RKMCCA auction at the Charlotte Convention Center, October 31–November 3. Steeped in Formula 1 history, this McLaren earned Hunt’s last-ever Formula 1 win at the Japanese Grand Prix in ’77. Hunt will be featured in the Ron Howard film "Rush," which chronicles the ultra-competitive relationship between Hunt and Niki Lauda during the tumultuous ’76 Formula 1 season.

The M26, chassis No. 3, is powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV 90-degree V8 that pumps out 525 hp. The M26 has been preserved and is race-ready, capable of 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds, and a top speed of 195 mph.

The November RKMCCA auction will feature hundreds of collector cars representing multiple categories of investment-grade vehicles, from America’s favorite musclecars to rare European entries.

Kevin Rivenbark claimed the Pro Mod runner-up title at the ADRL's Battle of the Belts race at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, September 6–8, 2013.

Galot Motorsports' driver Kevin Rivenbark claimed the Pro Mod runner-up title at the ADRL's Battle of the Belts race at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, September 6–8, 2013. Rivenbark, still in his rookie season, went head-to-head against some of the most seasoned Pro Mod drivers in this "best of the best" competition.

Qualifying sixth overall for the race in the Pro Mod class with 1,090 series points earned this season so far, Rivenbark drove his supercharged ’02 Pontiac Firebird to a win in the first round with a 3.895 at 190.32 mph pass. Knocking out an almost identical pass of 3.889 at 190.73 mph in the second round, Rivenbark secured his spot in the finals. The following day, Rivenbark qualified fifth overall for the standard Pro Mod class with a best pass of 3.937 at 189.55 mph while teammate Todd Tutterow piloted his twin turbocharged ’67 Ford Mustang GT500 to the 14th position and also took the Top Speed class honors with a 199.64 mph run.

Callaway Competition Teams Head to Slovakia Ring
September brings the ADAC GT Masters series into the final phase of its season, and Callaway Competition is leading the championship into the homestretch. After four regular-season victories, the team of Diego Alessi and Daniel Keilwitz are leading the pack in the Callaway Competition-developed and built Corvette Z06.R GT3. This weekend, the penultimate race weekend of the season provides a new challenge to the Callaway Competition drivers, as the ADAC GT Masters series races at the Slovakia Ring for the first time. The uncharted territory will also be faced by Andreas Wirth and Christian Hohenadel and their Corvette following their performance in the last race. They have a top-five finish in their sights. After a difficult start to the season, the Wirth/Hohenadel team hope to haul in the points at the Slovakia Ring debut. In cooperation with Toni Seiler Racing, Callaway Competition will start two other Corvette Z06.R entries: Toni Seiler/Mike Parisy and Remo Lips/Lennart Marioneck in the Gentlemen category.

The Corona Grand Race Celebration begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the official starting line of the ’13 race track located at Grand Boulevard and Washburn Streets.

Lucas Oil Products Inc. and MAVTV American Real will participate in the 100th Anniversary celebration of the City of Corona's Grand Road Race, Saturday, September 14. Corona's City Park will host a variety of fun activities to commemorate Corona's racing history, including a racing display featuring cars from the ’13 Road Race era to Lucas Oil's modern racers.

The Corona Grand Race Celebration begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at the official starting line of the ’13 race track located at Grand Boulevard and Washburn Streets. Vintage race cars from the ’13–’16 era that would have raced on the 2.75-mile-long circle will form a procession that honors the racers who 100 years ago sped into the record books at more than 100 mph before a race crowd estimated at 100,000 strong. This Saturday, the vintage race cars will make their way slightly more slowly around the original Grand Boulevard before heading to City Park (930 E. Sixth Street) where the Celebration continues and the Lucas Oil/MAVTV booth and race cars, under the direction of Lucas Oil's Director of Motorsports Tom Bogner and racer Ron DeHoop, is located.

	Attendees heading to the 2013 SEMA Show will have more opportunities to preview new products and world-class companies through the First-Time and Featured Exhibitor area within the LVH.

On-site registration for attendees heading to the 2013 SEMA Show will be available in the Las Vegas Hotel (LVH, Booth #16809), along with additional new attractions debuting this year. Among the newest destinations are one of the Show's First-Time and Featured Exhibitor areas and Cars & Coffee—SEMA Edition With West Coast Customs.

Through the First-Time and Featured Exhibitor area within the LVH, attendees will have more opportunities to preview new products and world-class companies. The area highlights some of the Show's newest exhibitors, and the LVH exhibits open at 8:00 a.m.—well before the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) Show floor opens.

In addiiton to the LVH, the Show includes two more First-Time and Featured Exhibitor areas within the LVCC.

Another attraction opening 8:00 a.m. is Cars & Coffee—SEMA Edition With West Coast Customs. Taking place in the outdoor patio on the south side of the LVH (adjacent to the LVCC North Hall) from 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m. each morning of the Show, Cars & Coffee provides attendees a great place to start their day.

The 2013 SEMA Show is on track to include more than 2,400 exhibiting companies—the highest in the SEMA Show’s 47-year history. The Show takes place Tuesday–Friday, November 5–8, in Las Vegas.
