Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman signed into law a bill to exempt purchases made by historic automobile museums from sales and use taxes.

A SEMA-supported bill to exempt purchases made by historic automobile museums from sales and use taxes was signed into law by Governor Dave Heineman. Under the new law, a historic automobile museum is “a museum that is used to maintain and exhibit a collection of at least 200 motor vehicles and was open to the public an average of four or more hours per week during the previous calendar year.”

The law exempts these museums from sales and use taxes on the gross receipts from the sale, lease or rental of and the storage, use or other consumption of purchases of items, which are displayed or held for display and which are related to the general purpose of the museum.

Team owner, crew chief and drag-racing icon Connie Kalitta decided to change direction with his dragster by tapping Todd to drive his Top Fueler during the previous event—the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals. Todd, a 32-year-old resident of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, has accumulated six wins in eight final-round appearances in NHRA Top Fuel competition.

“To say I’m excited to be a part of Kalitta Motorsports is a huge understatement,” said Todd, who most recently drove a Top Fueler for Bob Vandergriff Racing in Gainesville last month. “Driving for Connie Kalitta is a great honor. JOHNSON RIDES MOMENTUM INTO CHARLOTTE: It had been nearly six grueling years since Steve Johnson had last won a race in Pro Stock Motorcycle. But the list of trials and tribulations, near misses and bumps in the road simply made what happened at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals that much sweeter for the longtime two-wheel competitor. When Johnson knocked off Scotty Pollacheck in a final round it conjured up a number of emotions.

“We’ve won six times in what is now our 28th year, and all those times we’ve won have all been special races, and I’m crazy proud of it,” Johnson said. “But so much about it is perseverance. When you fight for it, and keep fighting, and then get it, it’s really powerful."

I looked up to her and to Angelle (Sampey) and Shelly Anderson Payne. Those were my heroes when I was a little kid going to the racetrack. My dad drove in the sportsman classes. I'd run around and get autographs. Those are my three favorite women, and I'm sure I stood at the back of their pits more than they wanted to see me. She's had a huge hand in us being able to accomplish the things we do now."

The car is expected to make its debut at the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals presented by Super Start Batteries in Houston. Fellow Mopar campaigners Allen Johnson and Jeg Coughlin Jr. debuted their Dodge Darts, built by Jerry Haas, earlier this year in Gainesville, and have enjoyed great success with them with Johnson racing to victory in the first outing of the new car.

Champion rally driver Patrik Sandell will drive a second OMSE Ford Fiesta ST in the Red Bull Global Rallycross SuperCars category. The Swedish driver is returning for a second year to the series after a strong debut season in 2013 with Ford and Olsbergs MSE.

General Tire Agrees to Three-Year Extension With Team Lucas
General Tire and Team Lucas have extended their comprehensive sponsorship program for three seasons, taking them through 2016. Second Generation of Deegan Motorsports Thrive Among Competition
After making history in 2013 as the first father and daughter to win Lucas Oil Off Road Series (LOORS) Championships in the same year, Hailie Deegan continued strong in 2014 with the first LOORS event held at Wild Pass Motorsports Park, March 22–23. In the J2 Kart division, Hailie qualified fifth in the single event for the LOORS opening weekend. In her #1 Dirt Princess/4 Wheel Parts/Lucas Oil/Makita machine, she overtook Timmy Moran for the win, giving her the early season points lead. In the Modified Kart division, Hailie qualified seventh in Round One, and finished in fourth place. In last sunday’s Round Two, she bettered her qualifying to eighth and finished in fifth. Her efforts at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park would put her third in Modified Kart points.

Hailie’s younger brother Haiden won the 2014 James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship in the 51cc Limited class, both in Moto 1 and Moto 2. Hailie will continue representing Deegan Motorsports with her father in the LOORS with the next stop at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, April 25–26.

Hailie’s younger brother Haiden won the 2014 James Stewart Freestone Spring Championship in the 51cc Limited class, both in Moto 1 and Moto 2. Hailie will continue representing Deegan Motorsports with her father in the LOORS with the next stop at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, April 25–26.

Jobbers have the opportunity to vote on the parts they most want to win for the build. Each month Superchips and Transamerican Wholesale post a new category with four manufacturer part options. At the end of the month, the parts with the most votes get installed on the Jeep to win. The nine qualifying drawings will occur electronically every month this year and again November 6, 2014, at the SEMA Show.
