Strengthen Your Company Through Community

No matter what niche you're in—rods, restoration, racing, restyling, reps, trucks or wheels and tires—there’s a SEMA council or professional network that's right for your company. SEMA councils and networks offer members a variety of market-specific programs and activities designed to provide educational and networking opportunities while promoting their particular industry segment.

HRIA General Membership Meeting

The Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) will host a general membership meeting at the National Street Rod Association (NSRA) Nationals on August 3—one day before the event opens. General membership meetings are a great opportunity to learn more about the council and the resources available exclusively to HRIA members. Attendees will hear the latest updates from the select committee and enjoy an open discussion on the hot-rod industry.

With the SEMA Show just around the corner, the select committee will announce opportunities to volunteer at the Show and other ways to become more involved in council activities. Enjoy refreshments while connecting with hot-rod professionals.

The meeting will take place Wednesday, August 3, from 3:30–5:00 p.m. in the Saddle and Sirloin Club, Freedom Hall.

HRIA Education Day Moves to NSRA Nationals

HRIA is moving its Education Day sessions to the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. Twelve manufacturers will give one-hour presentations on their product lines, and present tips and tricks for restoration projects. The Education Day will take place Thursday, August 4, with sessions beginning at 9:00 a.m., and the last session concluding at 4:15 p.m. (There will be two simultaneous presentations per hour.) The sessions will be classroom style, with some manufacturers hosting panel discussions, while others stick to a traditional presentation format. These valuable sessions are open to all attendees of the NSRA Nationals.

This is a popular event, and seats are limited. Reserve your spot today for the sessions that most interest you.

HRIA Pinewood Builder’s Challenge

If you are attending the NSRA Nationals, you do not want to miss the HRIA Pinewood Builder’s Challenge, taking place Friday, August 5, and Saturday, August 6, on the show floor. The annual HRIA Pinewood Builder’s Challenge is an opportunity to showcase the skills of nationally known hot-rod builders while raising money for SEMA Cares charities benefiting Childhelp and Victory Junction facilities.

Cheer on the builders as they race their one-of-a-kind, small-scale pinewood cars for recognition and a good cause. After the races, the pinewoods will be displayed in the HRIA booth and then auctioned off during the HRIA Industry Awards Reception at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

If you have questions regarding any of these events, contact SEMA Director of Councils Jim Skelly at 909-978-6690 or jimsk@sema.org.

ARMO Hot Products Showcase Photos Available for Viewing

Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) members sent their products to be displayed at the ARMO Hot Products Showcase event, which is held annually at the Spring Carlisle Car Swap Meet. This is a free program to ARMO members that exposes their products to the 100,000 automotive enthusiasts in attendance. The products are on display in the Hot Products Showcase tent located in the middle of the fairgrounds. New to the 2016 event, ARMO offered new product awards in multiple categories.

Besides the free product exposure, participating member companies also receive professionally photographed images to use for their own marketing purposes. These photos are displayed in a gallery on SEMA’s website and will also be seen in the ARMO booth at the SEMA Show.

MRN Represented Independent Sales Reps at the SEMA Exhibitor Summit

Three Manufacturers’ Rep Network (MRN) select committee members attended SEMA’s recent Exhibitor Summit in Las Vegas. Vic Bennett, Bill Eagan and Nathan Kunzman were there on behalf of the network, educating manufacturers on the benefits of working with an independent sales rep. MRN hosted tables at two key events during the summit, where they had the opportunity to connect with attendees and answer questions about the services a sales rep can offer.

MRN’s newest program, RepMatch, sparked interest among the exhibitors. RepMatch is a tool used to connect manufacturers seeking representation to reps who are looking to secure new automotive lines.

Manufacturers, expand your territory, increase your profitability and build business with an independent sales rep.

Reps, automatically receive notifications of manufacturers that are seeking independent sales reps.

Signing up is free and takes less than five minutes at www.sema.org/repmatch.

If you have any questions, contact Bryan Harrison at 909-978-6691 or bryanh@sema.org.

pr
Press conference applications are due Friday, July 29.

Thousands of editors and reporters attend the SEMA Show each year looking to fill the pages of their publications with the latest breaking news, the hottest products and leading trends in the industry. With more than 2,300 hundred exhibiting companies and just four short days on the Show floor, catching the attention of the media can be a challenge.

Hosting a press conference can be a great way to communicate news to a large number of media. However, exhibitors should know that press conferences do require a great deal of time and effort, and they limit the media to a specific, single time to hear news.

In lieu of hosting an official press conference, here are some other things exhibitors can consider to garner media coverage at the 2016 SEMA Show:

  • Enter a product in the New Products Showcase: As the number one destination for buyers and media, the New Products Showcase is the ideal place for exhibitors to house their new or featured products. The first product entry is completely free and offers additional brand exposure and publicity. Enter your product here.
  • Engage in social media: Connect with buyers and media by participating in social media using the hashtag #SEMA2016.
  • Submit your news to the Online Media Center: Exhibitors can announce their Show-related news on the SEMA Show Online Media Center. This free service is a great way to generate buzz about your company prior to the Show. Editors, reporters and SEMA’s publications team use the Online Media Center to fill the pages of their magazines.
  • Host a product training session: Exhibitors who want to demonstrate the technical applications of their products can apply to host a product training session and invite the media to attend. Application and details are available here.
  • Offer exclusive interviews to reporters: Contact reporters before the Show takes place, offering story ideas, images, facts and access to company executives for exclusive interviews. Many publications plan special SEMA Show editions in advance of the Show.

Companies interested in hosting a press conference at the SEMA Show should watch this video. If you decide a press conference is the best option for your team, be sure to submit an application before Friday, July 29. Applications are available on the website.

For more information on all of the PR opportunities available for SEMA Show exhibitors, contact Becca Butler at beccab@sema.org, 909-978-6669.
