John Yieser’s F-2000 landed a spot in the Top 21 of the 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders Competition.

If Ford brought back the ’69 F-100, what would it look like? This was the inspiration behind John Yieser’s F-2000 that landed a spot in the Top 21 of the 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders Competition. Sponsored by Hella Inc., Yieser purchased the vehicle for $2,000 in quarters more than 10 years ago, and has since transformed it into the perfect blend for both the hot-rod and off-road lover.

The Battle of the Builders competition, which took place during the 2015 SEMA Show, was open exclusively to builders with a display, feature or booth vehicle at the Show, bringing together the most talented builders and customizers in the country. With nearly 300 vehicles entered in the competition, this F-2000 stood out among the rest, earning itself a spot among the top 21.

Check out this video to learn more about this build, and visit our YouTube channel to see similar videos.

New this year will be the introduction of “Young Guns” (under 35) who will be singled out for special recognition. Builders with vehicles from all market segments are encouraged to enter.

For more information and to enter the competition, visit www.semaignited.com.

The Senate Environmental Quality Committee did not approve legislation to require the Air Resources Board to expand the state’s program for the retirement and replacement of older passenger vehicles and light- and medium-duty trucks.

Legislation to require the Air Resources Board to expand the state’s program for the retirement and replacement of older passenger vehicles and light- and medium-duty trucks was not approved by the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. The bill had previously been approved by the Senate Transportation Committee and full Assembly. Current law provides for “an enhanced fleet modernization program” to be administered by the Bureau of Automotive Repair based on guidelines adopted by the Air Resources Board. Beginning in the ’16–’17 fiscal year, the bill would have required the agencies to set specific and measurable goals for the program’s expansion. While the bill was granted “reconsideration” by the committee, it is unlikely to re-emerge and is essentially dead for the year.

For details, contact Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org.

Every night will end with a ticketed concert featuring the legends of country music. Owners of hot rods, street rods, motorcycles and classic automobiles are encouraged to go on tour with Rev’n Rods & Heartland for one stop or even the whole trip. Each registration includes two free nightly concert tickets per vehicle.

The details for each stop are as follows:
