Tanner Foust Claims Race Victory, Scott Speed Wins Fourth Consecutive Championship at Americas Rallycross Finale
Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross completed the inaugural season of the Americas Rallycross Championship (ARX) with a 1–2 finish at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) last weekend. Tanner Foust made a near clean sweep of the event, earning a top qualifying spot before winning his semi-final heat and the final—his second event win of the season. Scott Speed fought back to finish second in the final, securing his, and the team’s, fourth consecutive rallycross championship.

NMRA All-Ford World Finals Results at Beech Bend Raceway Park
The sun has set on the 2018 NMRA drag-racing season and on 20 years of NMRA All-Ford World Finals competition at Kentucky’s Beech Bend Raceway Park.
VP Racing Fuels Street Outlaw: Andy Manson in his ’96 Mustang met with Alton Clements in the finals, where Clements in his newly-acquired ’92 Mustang got the hole-shot win on a 4.342 at 167.28 mph blast over Manson’s 4.333 at 169.47 mph effort to capture the NMRA Victor trophy. However, Manson was crowned the champion for 2018.
Edelbrock Renegade: Tony Hobson in his JPC Racing ’14 Mustang faced Bob Cook in his ’90 Mustang, where he finished nearly two seconds in front of Hobson. Frank Varela, meanwhile, went out in the semi-finals but still won the overall season championship for the category earlier in the day.
ProCharger Coyote Modified: Danial Pachar in his ’04 Mustang went 7.728 at 176.40 mph and defeated Haley James in the finals for the event win. James, however, secured the 2018 ProCharger Coyote Modified season championship along the way.
Steeda Autosports Limited Street: Michael Ciborowski met Matthew Williams in the finals. There, Ciborowski stopped the clocks in 8.733 at 155.10 mph with his ’14 Mustang and continued on through to the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle to celebrate not only his win but also his championship.
G-Force Racing Transmissions Coyote Stock: Despite going out midway through eliminations, Darin Hendricks was deemed the season champion while Steve Kurmchak stayed in the game to the finals. The number-two qualifier saw Jacob Lamb in the other lane, where Kurimchak’s ’01 Bullitt powered past to take the stripe and the win with a 10.267 at 128.76 mph time slip.
Richmond Gear Factory Stock: Bart Welte faced Dan Ryntz in the finals. Both men piloted ’89 Fox body Mustangs, but Welte found success despite his slower 10.384 at 127.51 mph run against Ryntz, who ran 10.358 at 128.29 mph, but still managed to capture the championship for himself.
ARP Open Comp: Steven Daniels faced Brandon Rice in the finals, where Daniels illuminated the win lights in his lane. Championship honors, however, were awarded to Gordon Harlow for his outstanding performances throughout the season.
Detroit Locker Truck & Lightning: Amanda Saad in her ’83 Ranger defeated Mike Motycka in the finals. Randy Conway, who went out in round three of eliminations, earned enough points to be named the season champion for the third year in a row.
Exedy Racing Clutches Modular Muscle: Becki Cram drove her ’10 Mustang to a win over Andy Russell in the finals. However, the new class champion is Jason Henson.
Roush Performance Super Stang: Marvin Knack put his ’11 Mustang into the Aerospace Components Winner’s Circle when he defeated Andy Ransford by going closer to his 11.81 dial-in while simultaneously finalizing his title as the champion for the season.
Race Star Wheels Ford Muscle: Alan Mackin and Kevin McKenna were the final pair for the day. Great reaction times from both meant it was a close race, but the win was awarded to Mackin.
Hellion Turbo Coyote Shootout: Justin Jordan in his ’14 Mustang went on to win three rounds of eliminations in a row to earn his final win TCS of the season.
Weld Racing Terminator vs GT500: Randy Thomas and Lawrence Thomas battled it out in the finals, where Randy went 8.392 at 163.87 mph in his ’10 GT500 to send Lawrence’s ’04 Cobra back to the pits.
Race Pages Bracket: Derrick Cornish in his ’87 Mustang who took the win outright in Bracket 1 when he defeated Tony Brock, while Jacob Young did the same in Bracket 2 in his ’91 Mustang over Jason Gregory. Finally, in Bracket 3, it was Mike Moistner in his ’85 Mustang who was the big winner over John Golliday.
QA1 True Street: Troy Eaton was named the overall winner of the QA1 True Street when he averaged 8.370 seconds across his three quarter-mile runs. Mike Niehaus won the 9-second group on an average of 9.623, while Andy Vaughn capture the 10-second win on an average of 10.023. For the 11-second club, it was Kenneth Hilliard averaging 11.046 seconds to take the lead and Nickelus White winning the 12-second bunch with his 12.042-second average. Other winners included Ron Hayden (13-second), Logan Johnson (14-second), and Denny Alvey (15-second).
Tremec Stick Shift Shootout: Jeff McCool and his ’81 Mustang cruised on through to glory as Bob Myers settled for runner-up honors.
ZP Performance Steering Outlaw True Street: Tim Oswalt proved to be the quickest of the bunch when he turned the win light on in his lane against David Capps in the final round.

17-Year-Old Hailie Deegan Makes NASCAR History
Hailie Deegan, 17, became the first female driver to win a K&N Pro Series race, taking the checkered flag in the K&N Pro Series West race, the NAPA Auto Parts/Idaho 208, at Meridian Speedway in Idaho. She bumped her Bill McAnally Racing teammate Cole Rouse out of the way on the final lap.

Turbinator II First to 500 mph
Dave Spangler piloted the TEAMVesco Turbinator II as the first wheel-driven automobile to exceed 500 mph on Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. The speed machine averaged 493 mph in the measured mile and recorded a 503-mph mark as it exited the timing lights, indicating the car was still accelerating. TEAM Vesco was the Top Record Setter at the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association (USFRA) World of Speed in September with a 482 mph class record that exceeded the team’s current World Record of 458 mph. In August, at the SCTA Speed Week, the team earned the Hot Rod magazine Top Time Trophy with a 463.038 mph in class 3/T.
Dart Machinery, Joins Forces With Duck X Productions as Title Sponsor of Lights Out 10 & 11
Dart Machinery’s title sponsorship will put them front and center on track-side banners, flyers, car decals and the event’s live feed, which reaches upward of 3 million viewers. Winning racers will receive a Dart Machinery embroidered champions jacket and their share of the purse. Scheduled for February 14–17, 2019, the event will be held at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) in Valdosta, Georgia. Lights Out 10 will draw hundreds of thousands of spectators to the stands and online, plus millions of horsepower to the starting line and pits of SGMP.
