Collector Car Appreciation Day

Collector Car Appreciation Day (CCAD) will be celebrated this year on July 13. At the request of SEMA, this holiday has been marked each year since 2010 by a U.S. Senate Resolution recognizing that the “collection and restoration of historic and classic cars is an important part of preserving the technological achievements and cultural heritage of the United States.”

As in years past, a wide range of automotive events will be held to commemorate the occasion. As this annual event continues to grow worldwide, states, provinces, counties and cities are following suit with their own recognition. SEMA encourages participation throughout the month of July to honor the classics of the past and the future.

Check out the SEMA Action Network’s (SAN) video PSA for tips on setting up your tribute:

Please share it with your friends using the following link: https://youtu.be/AG3AHQ1IwA0.

Celebrate the hobby your way!

  • Attend an official vehicle-inspired event.
  • Host your own gathering or club meeting.
  • Promote a holiday sale at your business.
  • Drive your special ride, new or old, whatever the destination.

Plan and submit your July event at no cost. Locate a listing near you and more on the SEMA Action Network’s website.

Participating organizers will be awarded a copy of the congressional resolution for display at each registered event.

Motorin
Created through a partnership between SEMA and ClassicCars.com, the new MOTORin’ app is a car and truck event finder designed to make it easy for auto enthusiasts to find events by date, location or categories, and to help event organizers reach more users.

Automotive event organizers throughout the country now have a cost-effective, modern tool to reach consumers and promote events ranging from car shows, auto auctions, drifting or race competitions, free of charge. Created through a partnership between SEMA and ClassicCars.com, the new MOTORin’ app is a car and truck event finder designed to make it easy for auto enthusiasts to find events by date, location or category, and to help event organizers reach more users.

The app, which is available for download now at no cost at both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, includes hundreds of events, with new events being added daily.

“SEMA is committed to building programs and platforms that help the automotive industry flourish,” said SEMA Chairman of the Board Wade Kawasaki. “Organizers are invited and encouraged to submit their events so they don’t miss out on this opportunity to reach MOTORin’ users.”

Promoters can create an account by downloading the app. Once registered, promoters will be able to submit their events, along with details, a photo and a link to purchase tickets, if desired. Visitors will automatically obtain a list of upcoming events local to them when they access MOTORin’, but can also search for events by date, location, distance, keyword or event category.

“The automotive community thrives by making connections, and there are few places better to do that at than a car event,” said ClassicCars.com President and CEO Roger Falcione. “The MOTORin’ app offers a convenient way for collectors and enthusiasts to promote and discover relevant automotive events in their backyard or across the country. It was a pleasure to work with SEMA to develop the app.“

While events can also be searched online at www.motorin.com, the mobile app is designed to target a younger audience that is on the move.

For more information or to begin posting events to MOTORin’, download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play or visit www.motorin.com

Silverado

Here’s a first look at the inside of the ’20 Chevrolet Silverado HD.

The next-generation Silverado HD will look almost identical to the recently debuted 1500; the only difference on the inside is the gauge cluster, which adds a couple of small analog circle gauges in the center.

The next-generation 2500/3500 HD is said to utilize a mixed aluminum/steel body. Styling cues are likely to mimic the recently debuted 1500, with a wide array of unique grilles and distinctive trims.

Diesel power should still come from the recently refreshed Duramax 6.6L V8 engine, while the 6.0L V8 should soldier on as the standard gasoline option. No official word on transmission offerings, but considering Ford and RAM are still using six-speed units in their HD rigs, expect GM to stick with its current six-speed automatic heavy-duty transmission (although there’s still a chance the new Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission may show up).

The ’20 Chevrolet Silverado HD will debut sometime in early 2019, with an on-sale date later in the year.
