VP Racing Fuels Partners With RPM and JEGS

VP Racing Fuels became the latest company to team up with the Real Pro Mod (RPM) association to support racers competing in the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Series. The multi-year deal includes VP’s support of RPM Participation Bonuses coupled with retail promotion of VP’s Madditive line of performance chemicals with JEGS—an automotive aftermarket performance retailer that now carries Madditives by VP Racing Fuels. The next race for RPM will be the NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Series presented by RPM & Pro Line Racing at Atlanta Dragway, May 15–17, 2015, with the first round of qualifying set to begin that Friday at 3:15 p.m (EDT).

NMCA Returns to Bowling Green

The 14th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Muscle Car Nationals will be held at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, May 14–17. This year's event will be hosting the 10th Annual Dave Duell Classic for racers in the ATI Performance Products Nostalgia Super Stock class. The Dave Duell Classic is the largest NSS race in the country and it includes one of the biggest purses with $4,000 going to the winner and $1,500 to the runner-up.

With his ’32 Ford, Jeff Kinsey was named a top-10 finalist in the inaugural Battle of the Builders competition during SEMA Ignited at the conclusion of the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
  
With a personal passion for classic cars for almost 40 years, Jeff Kinsey started Hot Rods by JSK back in ’96. He was named a top-10 finalist in the inaugural Battle of the Builders competition during SEMA Ignited at the conclusion of the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, bringing a hot rod that had already gotten its share of attention at many high-profile custom car shows earlier in the season.

Kinsey and the crew at Hot Rods at JSK worked tirelessly on this ’32 Ford, and the result is simply stunning. For starters, it uses a traditional Ford 312" Y-Block V8 engine that runs Hilborn injection. To ensure this creation is ready for some long-distance rod runs, Kinsey also installed an electronic ignition on this older engine design.

One of Kinsey's outstanding achievements on this build was how he modified the body, removing the B pillar to showcase the tricked-out interior. He accomplished this by integrating the B-pillar structure into the leading edge of the rear suicide doors. This was just one example of the imagination and ingenuity that Kinsey and the folks at Hot Rods by JSK had produced. They have won numerous awards around the country, and now they can add being named a Top-10 finalist in SEMA’s first Battle of the Builders competition.

Battle of the Builders will return to SEMA Ignited this year, and builders with a display, feature or booth vehicle at the 2015 SEMA Show are encouraged to compete against some of the top builders in the country. Open to all market segments, including trucks, hot rods, street rods, off-road, motorsports, sport compacts, luxury exotics and the like, builders can enter to be a part of the competition at www.semaignited.com.

William Longo Passes Away

William "Bill" Longo, 80, passed away May 8, 2015, of a heart attack. He was born in Chicago and moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was 19. He married his wife Betty 53 years ago. Their six children in turn gave them 10 grandchildren. Longo served in the U.S. Army and worked for 60 years running a three-generation family business, C.P Auto Products, established in 1955 with his father and brother. Longo was a longtime SEMA member since the association launched in 1963.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, May 15, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Arcadia, California. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity.

Next week's International Measuring Session to be held at the SEMA Garage will be the last chance for SEMA members to create export-ready products for the ’12 Toyota HiLux.

The final stop on the 2015 International Measuring Session tour will be the SEMA Garage, May 18–22, 2015, from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. This will be the last chance for SEMA-member manufacturers to create export-ready products for the ’12 Toyota HiLux. A ’13 Ford Ranger T6 and the newest editions—a ’14 Mitsubishi L200 and ’14 UAZ Hunter—will also be available to SEMA members.

These global accessory-friendly vehicles are not sold in the United States. They were imported into the United States under a temporary three-year waiver, which expires in June for the HiLux and November for the Ranger.
