The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) contends that it is illegal to convert a motor vehicle into a dedicated race vehicle if the emissions system is no longer in its original configuration. In addition to under-hood performance parts, sales of products such as racing tires, wheels, brakes, suspension equipment, roll cages and netting, spoilers, fuel gauges and sensors are threatened unless the “Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act” is enacted into law.
Why? It’s simple. Customers won’t buy and install any race parts if a car or motorcycle can’t be converted into a dedicated race vehicle. What can you do? Urge your lawmakers in Congress to support the RPM Act. It only takes a minute to support this critical legislation that protects Americans’ right to modify street vehicles into dedicated racecars and the industry’s right to sell the parts that enable racers to compete.
