Likely to be powered by the LT4supercharged 6.2L V8, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was spied at Germany’s Nürburgring. The ZL1 is expected to share its engine with the Corvette Z06 and the Cadillac CTS-V.
The engine has been tuned to deliver 650hp in the Corvette, but it remains uncertain at this point whether it will go over 600hp in the Camaro. After all, the new Alpha platform should bring a weight loss of about 200 lbs., so it won't rely solely on muscle in its quest for speed.
Besides its gaping air intake, the front area of the car will also announce the vehicle’s go-fast intentions, thanks to the heat extractor placed on the hood. More exuberant rocker panels, new double-spoke wheels, a meatier rear spoiler and more aggressive exhaust tips complete the scenery. This Camaro ZL1 could become a reality as soon as the 2016 Detroit Auto Show in January.
