Feature Vehicles
Feature vehicles provide exhibitors the ability to highlight products and upgrades on cars and trucks positioned in designated areas away from the company’s SEMA Show booth.

The deadline to apply for a feature vehicle at the 2018 SEMA Show is July 31. Exhibitors planning a feature vehicle for the Show are encouraged to mark their calendars now to allow ample time to choose the best car to represent their brand and promote its appearance appropriately.

All feature vehicles must be approved and paid for by qualified exhibiting companies. Criteria for placement is based on how the exhibiting company’s products are showcased on the vehicle, whether the car has been featured in the SEMA Show previously, how complete the vehicle build is, and to what degree the vehicle captures all elements of the specialty-equipment market.

Each qualified exhibiting company is guaranteed placement for one feature vehicle. Additional vehicles will be prioritized by the exhibitors, using an electronic form that will be provided by SEMA Show management after July 31. Exhibitors will be notified as to the status of their feature vehicles on August 18.

Feature vehicles provide exhibitors the ability to highlight products and upgrades on cars and trucks positioned in designated areas away from the company’s SEMA Show booth. With unique style and unmatched innovations, feature vehicles are a visual marketing tool to help generate an organic appeal for an exhibitor’s products.

Complete details about feature vehicle registration are available in the SEMA Show Exhibitor Services Manual.

SEMA Battle of the Builders is a competition that recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of SEMA vehicle builders. Featuring customizers with a car or truck on display at the world-renowned SEMA Show, the competition shines the spotlight on the amazing talents and craftsmanship of builders who have already proven themselves by being a part of the premier automotive trade event in the world. It allows enthusiasts and fans a chance to learn the stories behind the builds, get to know the builders and be inspired along the way.

Bones Fab Owner Jim Bassett talks with SEMA News about the ’64 Ford Galaxie his shop built for the 2018 SEMA Show Battle of the Builders competition.

Builders who have a car or truck displayed at the 2018 SEMA Show can bring added exposure to their vehicles and the products that make their builds unique by entering the SEMA Battle of the Builders competition.

New for 2018 is the recognition of a winner in each of the four different categories—Hot Rod, Truck/Off-Road, Sport Compact and Young Guns. In addition, SEMA has expanded the Young Guns regional program, which will award 14 builders age 27 and younger the opportunity to participate in SEMA Battle of the Builders.

“The SEMA Battle of the Builders competition allows us to showcase to the world the talented builders who display their extraordinary vehicles at the SEMA Show every year,” said SEMA President and CEO Chris Kersting. “The Young Guns regional program enables us to bring attention to younger car builders, and this year’s expansion will provide more up-and-coming designers and builders the opportunity for national exposure.”

As in previous years, one builder will be named the contest’s overall top winner during the SEMA Show, and all competitors could be featured in a one-hour, nationwide television special that will air on the Velocity Network.

Press Conference
Hosting a press conference can be an effective way to reach a large number of media.

The deadline for SEMA Show exhibitors to apply to host a press conference at the 2018 SEMA Show is this Friday, July 27.

Exhibitors interested in hosting a press conference should note:

  • Hosting a press conference is not for every exhibitor. While a press conference can be an effective and efficient way to get your news to a large number of media, it is not suited for every type of news announcement. A great deal of planning goes into holding a successful press conference, and there is no guarantee that media will show up.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee an official press conference slot. All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of the status in mid-August. The final press conference schedule will be released in September.
  • A confirmation email is automatically sent when the application is received. If a confirmation email is not received, there may be technical problems and the application may not have gone through successfully.
  • There are several other resources available to help exhibitors connect with media.

Exhibitors are encouraged to contact Rachel Tatum at rachelt@sema.org or 909-978-6669 to learn more about SEMA Show press conferences and other media resources.
