Brembo-Equipped Cars Win Le Mans
The 82nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans was based on new regulations requiring the Le Mans LMP1 prototypes to get the most speed from the least amount of energy. The teams accepting this new challenge include the reigning Le Mans and World (WEC) Champion Audi Sports Team Joest with three Audi R18 e-tron quattros, the 2014 WEC-leading Toyota Racing with two TS040 Hybrids and two Porsche 919 Hybrids for Porsche Motorsport, returning to compete for the overall for the first time since winning in 1998. In addition, there is the “Garage 56” ZEOD entry from Nissan—a hybrid-electric race car similar in design to the DeltaWing.

In a battle of the hybrids, the #2 Audi of Fassler, Lotterer and Treluyer finished ahead of their teammates in the #1 Audi for their 13th win at the Circuit de la Sarthe and Brembo’s 14th overall victory in 15 years. The #51 AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia bested the #73 Corvette Racing C7R for top honors in GTE-PRO. This year’s overall victory represents Brembo’s 23rd win in 26 years, dating back to its first overall with Mercedes in 1989.

Wayes Takes First ULTRA4 Win at MetalCloak Stampede
The ULTRA4 main event last weekend saw two former and the current King of The Hammers each take a turn at leading throughout the 45-minute race. In the final lap, Tom Wayes worked his way from a rear start to claim the checkered flag, and his first ULTRA4 win.

Wayes had the fastest qualifying lap on Friday morning; however, after suffering mechanical issues, he was unable to race in Friday afternoon's prelim races. The top three drivers from prelims moved directly to the main event on Saturday afternoon. Nitto Tire driver Loren Healy won the fastest prelim heat, which put him on the pole for the main event with Shannon Campbell starting beside him.

"Kings" drivers Campbell, Healy and Jason Scherer held the top three spots for the first half of the race. But in the final lap, it was Healy and Wayes battling for the checkered flag. In the final two laps, Wayes posted the two fastest lap times of the entire weekend, propelling him into the lead to take his first ULTRA4 checkered flag.

In addition to the 4400 class, Saturday's racing also featured the 4500 Rubicon Express Modified Class, the 4600 Pro Comp Stock Class, the Legends Class and UTVs. Jordan Townsend dominated the 4500 race with Gerald Lee racing for John Currie taking second, and Jimmy Jack claiming third. In the 4600 stock race, Ben Varozza claimed the top spot followed by Bret Scheiding and Bailey Cole. Jessi Combs followed up her win in the Smittybilt Every Man Challenge race with another win in the 4800 legends class after battling Jim Brown in both the prelims and the main event, with Dave Schneider taking third. In the UTV sportsman class, Phil Cagliero dominated with Mel Wade IV claiming second and Brian Hogue in third.

The next ULTRA4 event will be the second race in the 4WD Hardware Eastern Regional Series, which will feature the ULTRA4s at Badlands in Attica, Indiana, June 26–27. The next Trail-Gear Western regional event will be the fourth-annual Glen Helen Grand Prix in San Bernardino, California, July 11–12.
