56 Ford F100
The Ford F-100 began as a ’54 model and was customized with a ’56 cab, a box frame built from scratch, and fenders widened 3 in. with narrowed wheel openings.

Jim and Mike Ring revealed their ’56 Ford F-100 creation, “Clem 101,” at their booth #23283. The vehicle, which began as a ’54 model, was customized with a ’56 cab, a box frame built from scratch, and fenders widened 3 in. with narrowed wheel openings, among many other changes.

A 5.0L Ford Coyote crate engine has been combined with a Vintage Air front runner system for power rack and air conditioning, Ford racing fuel injection, Bowler 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission and a QA1 carbon-fiber
drive shaft.

Front suspension encompasses a Ford Crown Vic setup narrowed 5 in., while a RideTech four-link with RideTech coilovers does rear duty. A QA1 custom front sway bar was also added along with a John’s Industries rearend with 9-in. housing, center section and axles. A Flowmaster 44 stainless-steel exhaust is teamed with custom Ringbrothers headers.

Stock seating inside was customized by Upholstery Unlimited. Advanced Plating did the exterior chrome, with Global Finishing Solutions applying the BASF Glasurit Waterborne Speedy P Green paint job. Wheels are HRE 545 Vintage Series, with braking applied via Baer 6P six-piston calipers, while the power hits the pavement on Nitto tires.

Defector
Stop by the BASF booth (#20353) at the 2017 SEMA Show to see “Defector,” an extensively modified ’69 Dodge Charger.

World-renowned custom car builder and parts manufacturer Ringbrothers has unveiled “Defector,” an extensively modified 1969 Dodge Charger. In a special presentation at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the muscle car was introduced at the BASF booth by Ringbrothers founders Jim and Mike Ring.

Defector retains the iconic bodylines of one the most popular Mopars ever built, as Ringbrothers incorporated original styling cues with modifications to convey a factory appearance.  More than 4,700 hours were devoted to the build, to seamlessly present a thoroughly modified exterior that exudes the aggressive styling of the original ‘69.

The largest deviation from the original Charger is the body work performed towards its rear. Jim and Mike Ring started with a locally sourced Charger body, shortened the car by 2 in. through the trunk area and extended the wheel base by 3 in. Consequently, the side rockers were lengthened and quarter panels were lowered and extended. A Detroit Speed Hydroformed Subframe sits below the body with rack and pinion steering, front sway bars and four-link rear suspension. To highlight the body work, Defector is coated in a rich custom BASF Glasurit color named “Greener On The Other Side.” Meticulous chrome work was performed by Advanced Plating to further complement the body modifications.
