Legislation (H.B. 2149/S.B. 805) that would have required the issuance of only a single, rear-mounted license plate for all passenger cars and light trucks failed to pass before the Texas legislature adjourned for 2019. Under current law, such vehicles must display two license plates. Both bills were awaiting consideration in their respective Transportation Committees but failed to advance.
