The House Public Transportation Committee approved legislation to allow the State Highway Commission to implement a pilot program that charges drivers based on vehicle miles traveled.

Legislation to allow the State Highway Commission to implement a pilot program that charges drivers based on vehicle miles traveled was approved by the House Public Transportation Committee. The bill now moves to the full House of Representatives for a vote by all members. Under the measure, participants in the program would be taxed 1.5 cents per each mile the subject vehicle travels on Arkansas roadways.
