At the 2025 SEMA Show, the Wheel, Tire, Suspension & Brake Council (WTSBC) proudly inducted Craig Donnelly of BBS into its prestigious Hall of Fame, an award reserved for individuals whose lifelong impact has advanced the professionalism, innovation, and national reach of the aftermarket.
For Donnelly, the recognition carries meaningful weight. After more than four decades in the industry, his passion for the aftermarket and racing community remains as strong as ever.
“I have a lot of respect for the range of talented people on the WTSBC team, and it is an honor to receive this award from them,” said Donnelly. “I feel very fortunate to have made my career doing something that I still enjoy very much.”
Donnelly’s journey spans 46 years, marked by key experiences that shaped both his expertise and reputation. His tenure at BBS, a global performance leader, allowed him to contribute to groundbreaking wheel technologies while learning from a company with deep motorsport roots. Earlier in his career, he spent five formative years with Tire Rack, broadening his understanding of the aftermarket landscape. But Donnelly is quick to attribute his success to those around him.
“Without great people around you, it’s almost impossible to succeed,” he said, crediting both the BBS and Tire Rack teams.
As the industry has evolved, Donnelly’s work has been influenced by trends such as ADAS, emerging vehicle technologies, larger wheel/tire fitments, and shifting motorsport homologation standards. These changes, he says, challenge companies to be better. For Donnelly, maintaining high standards comes naturally when representing a brand like BBS.
“Quality in product and service is critical for the long game,” he said. “Passion for what you do truly matters.”
Donnelly’s involvement with WTSBC and SEMA has also shaped his professional growth. Serving on the Select Committee offered an inside perspective into the association’s mission and introduced him to many talented peers who enriched his network and experience.
“The range of talent contributing to these committees is amazing,” he said.
Donnelly’s proudest accomplishments are overseeing BBS Motorsport USA in the 1980s and 1990s, supporting teams at racetracks across the country, and collaborating with NASCAR’s R&D team in 2019 to develop wheels for the new Cup car, a highly complex and rewarding project. And, as Donnelly said, “There are still a couple of big things in the works!”
When asked what advice he would share with the next generation, Donnelly offered timeless guidance: Be passionate. Stay adaptable. Build your brand through quality. Learn from those who came before you. And get involved in SEMA.
“It’s a long game. Be patient and stay focused. This is a great industry driven by passion and innovation,” he said.
WTSBC is honored to celebrate Craig Donnelly’s extraordinary career and lasting contributions to the wheel and tire community.
