The SEMA Show is one of the biggest opportunities each year for our industry to come together, and with the Show approaching, now is the time to start preparing. While the show floor is filled with new products, technologies and innovations, some of the most valuable opportunities happen through the connections we make with the people around us.
As your Chair and Chair-Elect, we encourage everyone attending the SEMA Show to arrive with a plan. Think beyond your company’s booth and consider how you can make the most of every interaction, whether you are meeting someone on the show floor, walking between education sessions, attending a reception or simply having coffee with a colleague.
For those working in booths, remember that networking is part of the experience. Take time to welcome visitors, ask questions and learn about what others are doing in the industry. If you have colleagues taking turns in the booth, encourage them to step away when possible and experience the Show themselves. A quick conversation today can become a valuable business relationship tomorrow.
The same goes for attendees. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. Hallways, lounges, receptions and education sessions are all opportunities to meet people you may not otherwise encounter. Come prepared with a brief introduction about yourself and your company, but more importantly, be prepared to listen and ask questions.
Education should also be a priority. SEMA offers an extensive lineup of education sessions covering business, technology, leadership, marketing and other issues affecting our industry. Take advantage of these opportunities to learn something new and bring that knowledge back to your team.
And don’t overlook the council and network events. These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow WTSBC members and others who are invested in the future of the wheel, tire, suspension and brake industry.
Be sure to join us for the WTSBC Reception on Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 5:00–6:15 p.m. Then, join us for Coffee & Conversation on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 8:00–9:00 a.m.
Attending the SEMA Show is not just abouts seeing products and collecting business cards, it’s also about creating genuine connections with the people in this industry. Come prepared to learn, engage, introduce yourself and strengthen the relationships that make our industry stronger. We look forward to seeing you at SEMA!
