Developing aftermarket products has become more complex as vehicles grow more advanced and regulated. The SEMA Garage exists to help member companies navigate that complexity by providing access to professional-grade engineering tools, testing capabilities and regulatory expertise that help bring products to market faster and with greater confidence.

With facilities in Diamond Bar, California, and Plymouth, Michigan, the SEMA Garage operates as a national product development and validation resource. It makes capabilities typically reserved for OEMs accessible to SEMA members of all sizes.

Product Development Built on Accurate Vehicle Data

The SEMA Garage supports product development from the earliest design stages through final validation. Through the Tech Transfer program, members gain access to OEM-provided CAD data that reduces reliance on reverse engineering and improves design accuracy. Precision scanning, rapid prototyping and industrial 3D printing further support physical validation. These tools help teams identify issues early and move forward with better data.

Early Access to New Vehicle Platforms

Measuring Sessions remain one of the Garage’s most valuable resources. They provide hands-on access to newly released vehicles and allow members to collect critical dimensional information and real-world insight. This enables earlier design work and shortens development timelines when speed to market matters most.

Emissions Testing and Compliance Support

For manufacturers navigating emissions regulations, the SEMA Garage Compliance Center provides technical and regulatory support throughout the emissions compliance process. With in-house testing and consultation tied to CARB Executive Orders and SEMA Certified-Emissions pathways, the Garage helps members pursue the most appropriate strategy for achieving 49-state or 50-state legality.

Advanced Vehicle Technology and ADAS Resources

Modern vehicles increasingly rely on advanced driver assistance systems and software-driven technologies, creating new challenges for aftermarket modification. The SEMA Garage supports members through ADAS-focused research, calibration awareness and validation resources. These efforts help ensure products interact responsibly with modern vehicle systems while maintaining safety and functionality.

Installation, Validation and Industry Collaboration

The SEMA Garages also serve as physical, hands-on resources designed to support the wide-ranging needs of members. Areas such as the Installation Centers are fully outfitted garages, complete with lifts, tools and specialty equipment to support product testing, prototype installation, validation work and even media content development. These spaces allow members to work directly on vehicles in a professional environment with on-site support.

Both Garage locations also offer turnkey meeting and training spaces that support technical education, business meetings and collaborative work sessions. Together, these facilities reinforce the SEMA Garage as not only a development and testing resource, but a practical, flexible workspace built to help members solve real-world challenges.

A Critical Resource for the Modern Aftermarket

By integrating product development, compliance support, advanced vehicle technology and early vehicle access, the SEMA Garage helps reduce uncertainty and raise the technical bar for the aftermarket industry. For companies looking to innovate with confidence in an evolving landscape, the SEMA Garage remains an indispensable partner.
