The Emerging Trends and Technology Network (ETTN) is proud to announce Dean Case of Motivo as the recipient of the 2025 ETTN Engineer of the Year Award. This prestigious honor recognizes an individual whose engineering excellence and leadership have made a significant impact on the automotive aftermarket.
Case’s career exemplifies innovation, collaboration and mentorship. From his early days as a hands-on builder and racing enthusiast, Case advanced to key engineering roles at Mazda, Ford and Nissan, contributing to projects including the NA Miata, MX-6, MPV, FD RX-7 and pioneering work in electric vehicle programs. His work demonstrates both technical mastery and forward-thinking problem-solving.
Beyond engineering, Case has been a passionate advocate for connecting innovation with the broader industry. He co-created the joint SEMA-SAE Student Career Fair Program, now in its fourth year, which has introduced over 1,000 “next gen” engineering and technical students to SEMA member companies, shaping the future talent pipeline. A long-standing SAE International volunteer, Case has delivered career talks at more than 50 universities and was recognized as SAE International’s 2020 Contributor of the Year.
Case’s consulting work for Motivo Engineering and Grassroots Motorsports Magazine underscores his continued dedication to advancing the industry. His strategic vision, mentorship and collaborative spirit make him a role model for both seasoned professionals and the next generation of engineers.
“Dean’s work bridges the gap between technical innovation and the broader aftermarket community. His dedication to mentorship and industry collaboration makes him an invaluable contributor to our field,” said Karen Salvaggio, ETTN Select Committee member.
The ETTN Engineer of the Year Award celebrates Case’s remarkable career and his lasting impact on engineering innovation and talent development within the aftermarket. Case will be presented with his award on Tuesday, November 4 at the FutureTech Studio in Central Hall at 1:45 p.m.
