ARMO Education panel discussion

When you run a family aftermarket business, business decisions often extend beyond the shop and into family relationships. A disagreement over tool investments or marketing channels can quickly strain a marriage, a father-son relationship or the dynamics of an entire team. At the same time, non-family team members must navigate the unique culture of a family-run shop.

At the 2026 SEMA Show, the Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) will help attendees navigate these challenges during the SEMA Education seminar, “Managing the Friction: Balancing Family Dynamics and Business Decisions” taking place on Wednesday, November 4, at 1 p.m. in Room N257.

Moderated by Joanna Shere of Steele Rubber Products, the panel will feature panelists Chris Compton of Distinctive Industries, Amy Fitzgerald of Cool Hand Customs, EJ Fitzgerald of Cool Hand Customs, Jesse Henke of JH Restorations, Jordan Henke of JH Restorations, and Erika Wiesman of Hydro-e-lectric, Inc.

Panelists will share candid experiences and practical strategies on setting boundaries, handling internal conflict and navigating the unique culture that family members and non-family employees experience in a family-run shop. Attendees will gain practical insight into managing those relationships while keeping their families intact and their businesses moving forward.
