2014 SEMA Memorial Scholarship and Loan Forgiveness Award Winners Announced

The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded $152,000 to 61 individuals this year. This includes 44 SEMA scholarships presented to current students, and 17 loan-forgiveness awards presented to employees of SEMA-member companies. In addition, one student was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to Ohio Technical College for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Dozens of Sponsors Take Part in Ford Mustang Build and Ed Pink Engine Project

Two projects have brought nearly $57,000 to the SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is dedicated to fostering the next generation of automotive leaders and innovators. Proceeds from two auctions will help provide assistance to university, college and trade-school students seeking careers in the automotive industry. The SEMA Mustang Build—Powered by Women and a custom engine to be built by Ed Pink Racing Engines were sold on eBay through Auction Cause, with parts and labor supplied by dozens of automotive businesses.

First-Ever SEMA Mustang Build Powered by Women

SEMA Scholarships CommitteeAnnounced in May, the SEMA Mustang Build Powered by Women is a collaboration between Ford Motor Co. and SEMA. Lead by the SEMA Businesswomen’s Network (SBN) a ’13 Mustang GT donated by Ford will be completely modified utilizing the contest-winning design from start to finish by women. Beginning with three concepts developed by female designers and concluding with women volunteers performing the hands-on modifications, the project is meant to shine the light on females working in the automotive aftermarket and encourage more women to pursue careers in the industry.
