SEMA Seeks Up-and-Coming Vehicle Builders

SEMA Warns Current Tariffs Are a Tax on American Companies and Consumers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 19, 2018) – The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) cautioned President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress that tariffs imposed by the U.S. government are harming American companies, workers, and consumers. SEMA member companies are now grappling with higher-priced steel and aluminum because of global tariffs. The U.S. government has also initiated questionable tariffs on Chinese products, and retaliatory tariffs levied by China and many American allies are in the works. Beyond that, the U.S. government is now threatening tariffs of up to 25% on imported automobiles and auto parts.

New Mobile App Dedicated to Automotive Events

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (June 5, 2018) – Automotive event organizers throughout the country now have a cost-effective, modern tool to reach consumers and promote events ranging from car shows, auto auctions, drifting or race competitions, free of charge. Created through a partnership between the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and ClassicCars.com, the new MOTORin’ app is a car and truck event finder designed to make it easy for auto enthusiasts to find events by date, location or categories, and to help event organizers reach more users.

SEMA Announces Board Election Results

DIAMOND BAR, Calif (May 25, 2018) -- Results of the 2018 SEMA Board of Directors election are in, with Donnie Eatherly from P&E Distributors Inc., Dan Kahn from Kahn Media Inc., Brian Lounsberry from Motovicity Distribution, Dr. Jamie Meyer from General Motors, and Steve Whipple from Edelbrock LLC elected to serve on the Board. While Kahn is a current SEMA Board member who was re-elected onto the group, Eatherly has served as a past Board member, and Lounsberry, Meyer, and Whipple will join as new SEMA Board Members.

Motorsports Industry Heads to D.C. For SEMA’s 2018 Washington Rally

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 21, 2018) – More than 110 representatives from the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) descended on the nation’s capital to participate in SEMA’s 2018 Washington Rally on Wednesday, May 16. Industry leaders stormed the halls of Congress to remind lawmakers of the cultural and economic importance of the automotive specialty equipment industry and motorsports.
