This is the ’20 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, and although interior shots reveal a manual transmission on this prototype, it’s just a clever disguise—exclusive video confirms a DCT (PDK-esque) transmission.

It’s thought that the production version will have a supercharged 5.2L flat-plane crank engine (although it sounds like a cross-plane crank in the video) mated to a DCT transmission; however, there are also rumors of an NA 7.0L V8. Horsepower should probably ring in somewhere around 740.

The GT500 will also get unique styling tweaks in the form of a reworked front fascia with larger air intakes, a massive hood bulge with heat-extractor vents, and a side diffuser that stops mid-door.

 

GM is hard at work on an all-new mid-engine supercar that is expected to join the Corvette lineup in 2019, likely as a ’20 model. The mid-engine Corvette will undergo a landmark change in philosophy, as Corvettes have always been front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports cars.

The mid-engine ’Vette was originally expected to use GM’s upcoming twin-turbocharged 4.2L V8, but it is rumored to borrow the 6.2L LT1. The transmission sounds like a DCT unit, with lightning-fast shifts and, according to Car and Driver, “Tremec’s TR-9007 seven-speed DCT will be the one and only transmission available.”

Chevrolet has also trademarked the name “E-Ray,” which likely signifies that an electrified version will be available as well.

This is the ’20 Chevrolet Silverado HD. The next-generation 2500/3500 HD is said to utilize a mixed aluminum/steel body. Diesel power should still come from the recently refreshed Duramax 6.6L V8 engine, while the 6.0L V8 should soldier on as the standard gasoline option.

There is no official word on transmission offerings, but considering that Ford and RAM are still using six-speed units in their HD rigs, expect GM to stick with its current six-speed automatic heavy-duty transmission (although there’s still a chance that the new Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission may show up).

The ’20 Chevrolet Silverado HD will debut sometime in early 2019, with an on-sale date later in the year.
