Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. announced that Tim Chaney joined the company as vice president of marketing. Chaney is responsible for leading all Toyo Tires marketing efforts in the United States, including go-to-market strategy, brand management and brand development. He reports to Roy Bromfield, president and CEO of Toyo Tires, and succeeds Senior Director of Marketing Amy Coleman, who retired in September of this year. Toyo Tire U.S.A. Wilwood Disc Brakes welcomed Bob Roese back to the Wilwood business-development team. Roese spent three years with Wilwood in multiple capacities within the sales and tech department before semi-retiring in 2015 as manager of the sales department. In his new role, Roese will not only focus on generating new business and strengthening Wilwood’s relationships with its current customer-base but also on dealer education and training. Marx Group was awarded two Automotive Communications Awards at the 2017 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo in Las Vegas. The first award, in the business-to-business category, was for Best Website Analytics, showing the success of a new website for www.marxgrp.com. The second award, in the business-to-consumer category, was for Best Print or Digital Display Ad Campaign for the Philips Automotive Lighting “Turn On, Turn Heads” campaign for its client, Lumileds. Zan Martin, president of Martin & Company Advertising, announced the addition of Kelly Hogan (pictured), who recently had served as an intern with Delk Industries in Nashville, Tennessee. For three years, Hogan also served as the e-commerce manager, product researcher and supply-chain relations manager for MB3 LLC. Brake Parts Inc. was honored as a 2017 McHenry County Business Champion in the category of companies with 300 employees or more. Sparta Evolution appointed performance aftermarket industry veteran Jerry DeMarino as its vice president of sales, reporting directly to CEO Jun Chun. Centric Parts, a division of APC Automotive Technologies, announced that Wilson Dias has joined the company as vice president/general manager of its StopTech division. Dias will oversee sales, design engineering, procurement, manufacturing and quality. Greg Woo, recently promoted to president of Centric Parts, made the announcement and noted that Dias is the latest executive to join APC/Centric Parts as the company positions itself for growth in brake system and chassis components markets.

Big O Tires expanded its brand in Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri, in partnership with Mark Rhee and Western Automotive Ventures. Rhee, an existing franchisee of the Big O Tires brand with 12 locations in Nevada, now owns and operates 56 locations, which were formerly NTB Tire & Service Center locations.

Lubrication Specialties Inc. (LSI) announced that two key management positions have been filled: director of marketing and director of sales. Robert “Bob” Miller was hired as director of sales to work with developing distribution of Hot Shot’s Secret sales through the company’s network of manufacturer representatives. Kyle Fischer, LSI’s new director of marketing, has close to 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and management positions.

Automotive Events Inc. named Iain Dobson company president. Dobson previously served as Automotive Events’ senior vice president for 14 years. He took over the post from John Thorne, who still serves as the company’s CEO. Prior to joining Automotive Events, Dobson served as general manager of Atkinsons Motorsports and as an editor of Motoring News.

The AAM Group announced the addition of RPT Distributing as its 21st member company. Offering more than 125 product lines and maintaining more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse space, RPT services multiple states from its headquarters in Brandon, Mississippi. Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket (CVAM) announced that Howard Laster, head of aftermarket for North America Continental CVAM, has been named to the board of governors of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA). As a member of the AASA board of governors, Laster is tasked with working with the senior leadership team to establish short-term and long-term goals for the association and its councils.

Howell EFI launched an all-new, mobile-friendly, interactive e-commerce website at www.howellefi.com. The new platform features a blog with updated tech information as well as tips for stress-free installations, customer experiences and the latest industry news. The new e-commerce website is also designed to allow the company to interact directly with customers online to assist with their purchase decisions or provide immediate customer service online from the website.

CRP Automotive named Ken Edwards of Kanmar Inc. its 2017 Rep Agent of the Year. Edwards is the president of Kanmar Inc., a Canadian sales agency representing OE and aftermarket manufacturers in the automotive and heavy-duty industries. Edwards received the 2017 Rep Agent of the Year Award from CRP Automotive for helping the company grow its business in the Canadian market.

Denso Corp. and NEC Platforms Ltd. unveiled a new joint venture, Denso Next Co. Ltd. The company develops in-vehicle information and communications equipment critical for fostering a connected environment inside vehicles, including products such as instrument clusters, head-up displays and onboard communication equipment. National Auto Parts Warehouse (NPW) companies acquired Associate Jobbers Warehouse operations in Boaz, Alabama. With this purchase, NPW now has a facility that services Alabama, Western Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, South Carolina, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi.
