2017 New Products Showcase Preview

Located in the Skybridge between the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Central and South Halls, the SEMA Show New Products Showcase displays about 3,000 products each year, all organized by Show section. In addition to new releases, there is also a “Featured” category, where exhibitors highlight their signature or best-selling products. Each entry is displayed with detailed product and contact information, making follow-up easy for buyers and media. With all these products gathered in one area, it’s the most efficient way to find new products and generate new business.

Restoration New Products

Restoration trends and methods are in a constant state of evolution and progression—something that was well evidenced in the restoration category’s new products at the 2016 SEMA Show.

Tools and Equipment Products

Tire Inflator New tools for new jobs—and better tools for the same old jobs—were on display at the 2016 SEMA Show in the Tools and Equipment section. That area, which covered more than 63,800 net sq. ft. of the North Hall, also included shop equipment, uniforms and a variety of specialized supplies. Notable products from the New Products Showcase awards were a trailer storage system, a handheld fire extinguisher and a ratcheting flare nut wrench—all fresh takes on tools that have been around for a long time.

Collision Repair & Refinish Equipment

Collision RepairThe global collision-repair market is expected to reach a value of $200 billion by 2022, according to a 2016 automotive collision market report by Global Market Insights. Researchers maintain that the segment is growing, with a number of economic trends contributing to older cars on the road, and more traffic in cities leading to increased numbers of minor accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 6,064,000 police-reported crashes in 2014. Those crashes resulted in $34.1 billion in collision-repair revenue, according to web-based consulting service Collision Advice.

Appearance Accessories and Maintenance Solutions From the 2016 SEMA Show

Appearance New ProductsAssembled here are the restyling and car-care products from the New Products Showcase at the 2016 SEMA Show. It’s a steadily growing Show section and was up in net square footage 13% from 2015. Product categories you’ll find within the segment are interior and exterior appearance and styling enhancements, car-care maintenance, replacement parts and general accessories.

Powersports New Products

PowersportsThe powersports niche is currently demonstrating fantastic growth, both in sales figures and product offerings. Categories like the UTV market are leading the charge, increasing total unit sales each year and expanding product lines to accommodate an eager consumer base. Reflecting this notion, 2017 SEMA Show data demonstrates that the Powersports category is on track to record double-digit growth in total booth space from last year’s Show. The 2016 SEMA Show was well represented with mobile electronics products from across the globe, focusing on driver safety, vehicle information and much more. In total, the category covered nearly 50,000 sq. ft. of exhibitor space, an increase from 2015. The following is a collection of mobile electronics new products from the 2016 SEMA Show.

Hot-Rod Products

Hot Rod Alley at the SEMA Show includes a mix of street rod, custom car and street-performance products and services pertaining to everything from classic ’30s vehicles to ‘70s musclecars and beyond. This diverse category showed growth for the third consecutive year at the SEMA Show. For 2016, the number of companies exhibiting in the hot rod segment grew 2% and occupied 4% more square footage on the Show floor than in the prior year.

Truck, SUV and Off-Roading Offerings

Rip Dark LEDThere’s good news for the truck, SUV and off-roading segments. Current SEMA research shows the aftermarket trend lines for all three categories rising. Certainly the renewed strength of these markets was demonstrated at the recent 2016 SEMA Show, where manufacturers introduced an impressive 567 fresh truck, SUV and off-road parts and accessories into the New Products Showcase.
